Do you think americans are afraid of commitment?

Most americans won't marry unless they're picky enough to date around 10 people before they find "the one". Then 15 years later, they divorce. So they are now onto the next person. Couples fall deeply in love, date for 7+ years only to break up and find themselves single again. Half of all US marriages end in divorce.

In other cultures such as muslims or jewish or the old days in the 1940s, people got married at 21 and remained married until death. These are people who can actually do marriage.

Yeah, it is a bad scene and many American men are exiting the country looking for reliable traditional women.

The core problem in America is women. Yes, men are afraid of marriage because women have destroyed it. Half of marriages end in divorce, women initiate 80% of them and the number 1 reason for divorce is lack of commitment. Why wouldn't men turn their backs on marriage?

studies have shown that married men live longer than single men. but married women do not live longer than single women.

Those studies are deeply flawed and very misleading for a couple of reasons. First, in order to know which group lives longer you have to, by necessity, wait until they die. For that reason, the studies in question were based on much older men who got married during a very different time when women and marriage were very different than they are today. Today's marriage offers men far fewer benefits with far more risks than marriage of the past.

Also, the studies grouped divorced men in the unmarried group, so all those men who have had their lives destroyed by divorce obviously skewed the study results.

The married men who lived longer were the lucky few who were in happy marriages that lasted, and who benefitted from the sort of marriage that we rarely see today. When future studies are done decades from now they will paint a very different picture of how marriage affects men.

Absolutely. I think that people ought to get married younger. Forces them to grow up and better themselves.

Personally, I'm not afraid of the commitment aspect. It's the "future" that scares me. Things change fast, and divorce is a scary thing. Thats why I'm picky, I want to be sure I truly find the one.

what makes you think that just cuz you found "the one", then you wouldn't divorce?

why don't you just admit, that you can't do marriage?

its because you won't admit that you just can't do marriage. it has nothing to do with finding "the one"

I'm not afraid of commitment personally, I just don't want kids. I would wanna get married but it's a matter of finding a woman who wants the same things I do.
