Why are women required to be housewives but men are not required to be adequate breadwinners?

all the men on GAG keep insisting that they would only marry a woman who wants to become a housewife YET, they hate it when women judge them based on their finances.

You need to make a lot of money to support a housewife and a family... especially in this day in age where inflation is through the roof. Life will only get more expensive as the years go by.

why would any woman become a housewife just to struggle to survive?

You are completely correct. Many men are obsessed with the ideology of women being stay at home moms and wives… it’s 2023. People now have the choice if they want to get married or have children. Society expects women to have kids and be married so that’s why they do it.. contraception and abortion was not available as much back then, so often women were expected to have babies and marry these men. Now with contraception birth control and abortion and modern day, people can choose if they want kids or not. People can choose what route they want to go in life. Im sure if contraception and choices were more available back then, most women would not have kids or be stay at home wives. You are correct about many men insulting women for choosing another life path over kids and marriage. I personally would rather have a career and make money for myself. Im not interested in taking care of kids and being a traditional wife.

Having good finances isn't the opposite of being a house wife. House wife is more of a personality trait, whereas finances directly related to a guy's sexual market value. Because there is so much pressure on men in society to earn lots of money, they secretly hope that if anything happens to their jobs, their wives will still love them. I've supported a family of 3 off of an income of 35k annually for years. Not a lavish life stile, but I did what I needed to do. But a lot of women want between 200k and 400k annually, which is between 1% and 2% of the population.

You can have a standard that he has to be a competent breadwinner, and not alienate 99% of men.

The other issue is that these women who want between 200k and 400k, also want this Miracleman to do all of the cooking, the cleaning, child rearing, and home making, ON TOP OF making between 200k and 400k annually.

At that point, the women is a live-in-prostitute, not a partner.

The discrimination based on annual income is why a lot of guys will not tell a woman what his income is because they don't make 200k to 400k annually. Depends on where you live. You don't need to make a LOT of money, you just need to make more than you (you being the family unit) are going to spend. Median household income in the U. S. is 74k. Most people making that are capable of sustaining a family, you just can't live in L. A. while you do it.

Younger women with no concept of money think their man has to make 10 million a year or they're broke. No, I'm living quite comfortable at low six figures and could quite literally buy a starter home every year.

Now personally I'm not having kids, so I don't care if she stays home or not, but work because you want to, not because you think you NEED the money. Any woman who couldn't make do with the excess of my salary wouldn't be one that I'd keep around long anyway, because few of them are bringing enough to the table for me to grant access to the entirety of my finances. Do you "need" a new Fendi purse every weekend? Really? We don't share enough common values to seriously discuss marriage, but that has nothing to do with how much money I make.

Being a housewife is pretty easy. Since the 50s there has been all sorts of labour saving devices that makes housework very quick to do if you are organised and keep on top of it. I think I only do about 2hrs housework at most per day and cooking meals while doing it. Most of what I do all day is look after the kids and I might go to the gym, go for a walk, meet someone for coffee, read a book, and other appointments. I'm basically waiting for my husband to come home. I don't think most guys would accept a traditional housewife, that is a woman staying home doing very little for the next 40 years while he does all the earning. As soon as the kids are old enough I'm getting a job. Honestly since getting pregnant and having kids being a stay home mom has been the easiest thing I ever did, half the time I don't know what to do with myself. Growing up it was always schooling, sports, dance practice, church etc.

One thing I have to agree with what some Of them SAY, probably not with what thay MEAN though: Everyone, men and women should be able to survive in their own home and know how to cook, wash, etc. (Often housewive asociated chores). So yes every women should be ABLE to be the stay at home part, every men as well though!!

I currently make plenty of money to support myself and another person. With the tax benefits of marriage I could also support having kids. Especially with the monetary savings of not needing daycare with a stay at home mother. What I don't like is women that treat me like I am a pauper because I don't invest in cryptocurrency.
