Girls - How do you feel about random gifts?

Just a thought, but it has been on my mind. Lets say your going out with this guy and for no reason out of the blue he gets you a gift. It can be anything flowers, candy, plush animals, anything.

What would you like to get best? How would you like to get your surprise (ex. delivered at work, pulling out form behind his back, open a door and finding something etc.)?

Once again this is just a thought I don't really have a current girlfriend, a few friends with potential but not real interest. I'm just asking out of curiosity.

I think, unless I had been in a good relationship for a while, getting a random gift would be a sort of odd. It would feel like he's trying too hard to get me to like him. I don't need candy or stuffed animals to gain interest in someone. That stuff's for after you've establish a good connection with someone and you know basically how each other feels.

And even then, I think I'd just like small stuff. A single flower. A tiny box of my favorite candy. If it was big or really thought out, I'd feel bad that I didn't do anything back and/or that he paid so much to give whatever it was to me.

As for the act of getting it, finding it in a random place would be kinda cool. Like on my car, or on my doorstep or something. Or if he set it on a table where he was before I got into the the room, then acted like he didn't know how it got there or something. Cheesy ways like that. Ha.

For me, it wouldn't matter what the gift was or how it was delivered. It could be something as simple as a hand written note from him. That would show that he thought about me and wanted to give me something that was a one of a kind. . That means he had to put time and effort into it and it would mean more to me than something bought.

It is really sweet of you to ask this question. I agree with your response about giving gifts. I think that random gifts mean more to someone than ones that are expected ( b-day, anniv, x-mas, etc). The girl that ends up with you is going to be very lucky.

A hand written note!! I never thought of that but in my last 2 relationships I was always writing random poetry about them but would wait for a "right time" to give them, but really right after you finish is the right time.

And I always hear that the girl who ends up with me will be lucky, but I have been single for over 2 years, I'm beginning to wonder. But really I'm still friends with most of my ex's so I guess its right just no in the way I'd expect *sigh*

My favorite surprise gift is a bouquet of Lilies ( my favorite flower) I know its kinda cheesy, but something about a nice bouquet of flowers just makes you feel special. My favorite delivery method would probably be pulling out from behind back. (that way the giver is there to get a thank you!)

Don't suck up to your girlfriend, that's not what they actually want. Be your own man, don't feel the need to validate yourself. Save gifts for actual occasions, like an anniversary (6 month and 1 year), birthday, valentines, etc.

Well the point of random gifts is to show your girl your thinking about her. the problem with giving gifts on occasions is that your expected to give them something and to me that's not really romantic.

I don't think of it as sucking up just letting them know they are on you mind.

I love them! My guy never ever does this. It would be so nice to get ANYTHING from him, randomly. It doesn't matter what it is, it just shows he's thinking of me.

I guess I'm not much help. But I think most girls don't care WHAT the gift is or HOW you give it to them. The fact that it happens is worth more than the gift it'self.

gifts are always good. Do not hesitate. Jewelry is of course always tops but understandably not always an option. but even a silly gumball machine toy is enough to make most girls smile. It really is the thought that counts and that's why gifts are good. Its tangible evidence that you are thinking of us, and lets face it everyone like presents.

Well I would love it if he would make letters example follow this direction there's a surprise then I would find another surprise and so on and at last ill find him
