Should I call my boyfriend on his birthday even if we had a fight?

my boyfriend and I had an argument and fight before he left on a vacation. since then we haven't talked for almost 3 days and its his birthday today. I am hesitant on calling him because I don't know if he will be happy about it. I don't know his whereabouts now and what he's doing that's why its giving me more reasons to not call him but instead text him. I greeted him on text but he didn't even reply. he used to call me from time to time when he's away or I am away but now he didn't even bother. I was thinking that maybe he wants me to call him because it is his b day. what should I do?

Just do it, and get it over and done with. Don't pretend to be really happy etc, but don't sound all mopey either. How long is he away for? You could say you guys should talk when he gets back.

thank you aimster. I would love to work things out but I am afraid that doing so would just put us both in a relationship that maybe unknown to us should have come to end because we will be better off.

thanks for responding shaun. but the situation between us is more complicated than just having one of those arguments. I am considering of breaking up but definitely not on his birthday. I had plans before, it just so happen that his birthday approached. imagine on his vacation he didn't even call me for 3 days...i don't know if I am hurting that's why I'm hesitant to call or its just that I should continue on breaking up...i am confused
