Do you prefer diamonds or pearls?

#FeelFreeToList #DiamondsOrPearls
Pearls all the way! Pearl necklaces, pearl earrings and rings. These are the sort of things I like.
Your baroque freshwater pearl. I love these irregular shaped pearls for necklaces and even earrings.
I love these rings as well as they look simple snd dainty.
Not sure what this ring is but I always look at it when I go into town and I just think it’s GORGEOUS. My dream engagement ring.
Omg you posted one of my top 5 pearl wedding rings 😭
The first one. My ex 2 years ago was gonna propose witj it
I’d love it as en engagement ring. I prefer something less than a diamond because i hate wearing jewelry for lonng wnd tend to lose things. So i’ll prob wear the pearl on my neck after a while
But that pearl ring is only $700. I mean its a lot but expensive is like how friggin diamond ringe are $3500 and thats just for the white gold band. Doesn't even include the center diamonds
Like my dream ring is $2800 but i know im clumsy and fear i couldnt keep up with it. Plus i fear getting robbed. Im fine just having a stainless steel silver band honestly. But if i pick and choose, it would be a white gold band and a pearl engagement ring
Can you not get insurance on jewellery? I’m sure that’s a thing. What currency is the $2800?
A friend of mine snd her husband have these resin rings that have flowers from their wedding and those are their wedding bands. They changed to those after her husband lost his ring. They’re cheap and cute
American dollars. And yea there's insurance. I’ll prob get it. I just dont see myself being comfortable in a heavy ring. So thats why i like the small pearl one above
The last ring looks like opal (for the main stone).
I prefer pearls, I think they're more classy able to fit with everything while diamonds can quickly look tacky if not worn correctly or not wearing the right diamond accessory. Though diamonds are expensive, I think pearls are more valuable since no pearl is really the same due to the fact that it's basically generated by an oyster.
Yessas i agree except i think diamonds go with more casual wear while pearls dont

I worked as a jeweller a few years ago. Pearls are attractive, but incredibly fragile. If I was asked (and I was a few times) about setting a pearl in a ring I always advised against it. You don't realise how often you knock your hand into things every day. Any blow can be enough to shatter a pearl. Don't get me wrong, natural pearls - as opposed to cultured - are rare and beautiful, just much better as a necklace, pendant or earrings. A single pearl as a pendant set as the centre of a flower with pear-cut yellow diamonds as the petals would be an exquisite gift for a bride, but not as an engagement ring.
Holy smokes never knew they were so fragile. Im clumsy and constantly hurting my hand against walls and tables... but i dont like diamond rings. Guess i better stick to a regular ole band
All a pearl is is a grain of sand surrounded by layers of the pearl material the oyster coats it with until it can spit it out so it stops irritating its membranes. If you slice through a pearl it has rings like a tree. It's actually quite beautiful.
Why not look at different stones? Emerald, Ruby, sapphire etc. And you get different colours of diamond too. I worked with a setting of brown and black diamonds that was stunning and because of the colours it was a conversation starter.
Just something to think about.
I just prefer a pearl over a diamond and other stones
I will never understand women's taste in jewelry. We have black opal, that shimmers like a nebula and is exceedingly rare compared to diamonds and pearls, yet it is ignored. We have meteoric iron that is literally from a meteor from space itself having drifted through the void for eons only to land here and its pattern is completely unique to it just as its origins are, yet you go for silver and gold? You have dominican amber which is golden in color as long as light passes through both sides but when you place it against a back drop of black it becomes a brilliant blue, but again, you choose the expensive but ultimately mass produced and common and uninteresting gems instead? That is bizarre to me and I will never understand it.
We’re talking about diamonds and pearls. Not silver and gold
Yeah, and as I pointed out diamonds are common, incredibly common and not particularly interesting to look at and pearls are common and not really that interesting to look at but we have things that are insane both in origins and to look at and are rare and yet they get ignored. Not sure why you ignored the first part of my statement.
You have this:

Vs. this:
I feel like their is no real comparison, the first are rather boring the others are not.
Im guilty of skimming the paragraphs so yea i admit i didn't see that. The opal looks cool but not something i personally consider elegant and meaningful for a wedding
Like I said, I don't understand why some one values a diamond. Why do you think its more meaningful to get a diamond that is only expensive because of the massive monopoly on diamond mines Debeers has and who's coloration is minimal and can be mimicked by glass prisms? Also your aware that DeBeers literally came up with the idea of a diamond wedding ring in order to sell diamonds right? Its the best marketing campaign that has ever been created as far as I can tell (It started in 1947 so its not even a particularly old tradition).
I said i prefer pearls in the paragraph above the poll. Diamonds aren't all that. And i just feel like im putting myself out there to get robbed by wearing them. I want a pearl wedding ring. Less fancy but still elegant and meaningful
I also pointed out the mundanity of pearls (second picture). Still haven't said why you like them.
I just said above that i think theyre more meaningful and personal... and it has a lovely elegance that i find mesmerizing. Sounds like we’re not reading eachothers responses at all
Yes but I mean why would they be more elegant and why would they be more meaningful? Again, they are not particularly rare, they are pearlescent but the colors are rather mild in comparison to much more vibrant gems, etc. It seems rather arbitrary. Not criticising, you do you, I'm just honestly trying to understand the appeal when compared to all the other options (if your talking from a pragmatic stand point, yes pearls would be better since black opals (for example) are only found in australia and as such are incredibly expensive where as pearls can be manufactured/farmed (still takes a lot of time and effort but in comparison their easier to come by)).
Chivalry isn't dead with you I see. You're a romantic.
I had always wanted a chameleon diamond because it's just beautiful to me. I however also like things that are rare and that show sentiment. So even though a ring made from meteoric iron won't exactly catch my eye, if I'm to be gifted such a ring, I would appreciate it more than the chameleon diamond. The thought and idea behind the gift weighs more than value.
@rxm_bxl Interesting I've never heard of a chameleon diamond before (just read up on it, sounds fascinating). As for the meteor iron, here is a picture of one:
The pattern is at least to me, very eye catching and interesting (plus again, iron that can only form that way in space and has been drifting through space is just well awesome (in the original sense of the word). Personally I think the thought matters but I find the uniqueness and creativity of it as being most important. Probably why I don't understand the appeal of diamond (from a jewelry stand point) as every woman has one, they are fairly generic looking and their is nothing that particularly stands out to me. Doesn't mean they can't be used in jewelry, I just don't think they look as good for a center piece.
i prefer pearls. cause they're actually priced for what they're worth and not involved with monopolies and crimes against humanity.
there's a huge missconception about the value of diamonds, basically singlehandedly established and perpetuated by De Beers. in certain countries, diamonds litterally just lie around on the ground to pick up. they are not a rare resource globally by all means. but that one company has effectively a monopoly and controlls global prices and litterally kills people that will try and collect diamonds to sell them under their price. that's basically what the term and the movie "blood diamonds" is about. that's the only reason diamonds are expensive. not cause they're crazy rare and therefore inherently valuable.
I think pearls look nicer as necklaces, diamonds look better as rings, and depending on the outfit they both can be stunning as earrings.
Right on
Sorry sweetie, I am really not into jewelry, I guess I just think that I would rather have 10,000 wisely invested than have a Diamond ring! Although I prefer the aesthetics of diamonds over pearls, I would rather have a $250. CZ engagement ring and a $9,750 money market account!
I think even rings over $3,000 is ridiculous. And yes i’ve seen some beautiful CZ rings that look way better than diamonds. Still, i prefer a pearl but wouldn't pay over $1500 for a pearl ring and wouldn't pay over $3k for a diamond ring
I wouldn’t pay more than $20 for any “jewelry”. I guess an engagement ring is different, but still, I would never want my future fiancé to spent mor than 300-500 dollars!
Yea if its not a wedding ring, i wouldn't lay more than $20 either unless its a nice stainless steel cross. They cost $20-70
Cool, Great attitude!
I’m not a jewelry type girl I never know where to shop and end up getting silver earrings of Santa muerte or fuckin guns 😂 very grunge but I as well like pearl earrings since I think it is classy but it would be in my comfort zone of not being too glam and flashy. Suits me :3
Haha i feel ya
I'd say diamonds for me... But I'm also a guy so 😂 but as a girl I think I'd still like the diamonds simply because they seem sexier... Pearls are gorgeous but they always seem old fashioned to me... Diamonds feel newer and sexier... But to your point, I can see how pearls could be sexy too 🤔
Yea my mom calls em oldfashioned but i find it more elegant
I prefer diamonds because they have a special look and they are always attractive but if you don't have the money to buy real diamonds, you can try some Simulated diamond rings.
If you are referring to jewelry, then neither appeal to me but if you are speaking of wealth, I would go for diamonds most definitely. Pearls seems to me a sentimental and traditional romantic gesture from a man to a woman and seems to have a high signifcance in that regard than diamonds. But it will not feed my ass. Diamonds will.
At least you see the romanticness abou peqrls 😍
You better not buy your own engagement ring. You can pick it out and show it to your boyfriend but let him buy it. It doesn't matter to me either way. It's whatever the woman likes.
Did this question originate from my "diamond" comment to you
I think so lol. But yea ig i won't buy it but i prefer to
How about going to a public mine or sifting river to fine a gem stone. There are places you pay a small fee, rent equipment, and spend the day together finding gemstones.
Cheaper than buying one, you both spend some together and you may possibly find a gemstone or more, worth a huge amount
Sounds nice but nahh
Hmmm... carbon which has been subject to extreme pressure and heat or a bit of grit which has been covered in mucus?
I prefer amethyst personally, especially a big geode but that doesn't fit on your finger.
Ahh ok
diamonds
I had a lot of pearls when I was a child and young teen but they just always break one way or another so it's annoying. I can't count how many pearls my parents have bought me and who have broken.
Dang theyre that fragike?
p e a r l s is a girl’s best friend ☺️ But I don’t like the baesic pearls look, I’m more about styles by the way it’s design that stands out and still look feminine & chic but fashionable ~
Ahh i see
Pearls cause they come from a creature and are not just another rock at the end of the day. Also they don't catch on fire if ya dump them in liquid nitrogen.
Oh wow
Whilst I’m not bothered about either, given the choice I’d choose diamonds every time. They hold their value and pearls are practically worthless.
Worthless but more meaningful in my opinion
@DizzyDesii It’s great that we all have different opinions and that’s the best part of any gift though; the thought, effort and sentimental value means a lot to me. However, if he was to get me anything of value, like diamonds, I’d prefer him to treat it as a future investment for us.
Diamonds. Pearls are too classy and don’t go well with everything lol I don’t have a lot of jewellery but the little I have is pretty versatile.
Yea but ima still rock my pearl witj casual outfits cause its gonna be my wedding ring lol
I want it as my engagement ring. I want a regular band as my wedding ring
This is such a “rich” question, it is beyond my capability to answer. I’ve never even been in close proximity to either of them.
Lmao its not a rich question 😂
This is one of the hardest questions I’ve had to think of. I still don’t have answer because I seriously love both!
Haha
I dont wear any jewelry, so I dont know, if I did it would just be either silver or gold.
Are pearl rings really a thing?
I like silver not the look of gold. Pearl rings aren't as popular as diamonds but they are a thing
