How do I learn my girlfriend's ring size?

Since my girlfriend's birthday and Christmas are so close I usually buy her gifts for each at the same time. Now for my mom and sister, I usually buy earrings because they're easy and it's all good. My girlfriend doesn't have pierced ears which means I am stuck with necklaces, bracelets, and rings as far as jewelry goes. Unfortunately nobody (me, her, nor her mom) knows her ring size (s). How could I discover this for ring gifts as well as an engagement ring (eventually)? I do and can buy sexual gifts, but those can't really be opened in front of our families. So until she's not showing her family the gifts I got her (unless they're like panties and bras, I don't care if her family sees those that I might buy for her) I have to buy appropriate things, and rings work (when they fit).

Don't sweat the ring size.
I'm a retired jeweler, store owner.
Rings can easily be resized.
And she may want to wear it on a different finger than the one you sized it for.
One thing to keep in mind is the stores return policy, some will not accept a return if it has been sized.
Ask the store what their return policy is.
The average women's size is a 6 or 6.5.
My store was in a rural area, so women there had larger fingers.
I included the 1st resize with the purchase, some stores may not.

You can "borrow " one of her rings. The jeweler has a device that will determine ring size. There is also a finger measurer that you can use when she is asleep.

You have to ask as there is no other way to find out. If you don’t want to ask, it’s possible to get an affordable necklace for the same price, so long as it’s not too thick and does not contain diamonds. You don’t want a very expensive necklace because people might assault the owner to steal it. Pearls and silver work because people don’t know if they are real or fake so you won’t attract dangerous or jealous thugs who think violence is okay.

I think instead of a ring, do another piece of jewelry as a present. Save the ring for the engagement so that it holds weight and means more.


In order to find her ring size, you could always steal one of her ring finger rings and take it to a jewelry store and have them measure it. There’s also templates that you can print online and see which size it fits.

You could always do a non-jewelry present. Personally, I prefer picking my own jewelry and hardly wear jewelry other people buy for me.

BUT, if you wanted to do a personalized piece, go with her birthstone and look up ideas on Pinterest or Etsy, as these are the types that are in style and typically liked by most women. Something dainty and pretty. You also need to pay attention to what color her other jewelry is. Most women either like gold or silver, personally I prefer gold. Rose gold is kinda out of style these days.

I got her a garnet necklace, but I don't want to keep buying necklaces and bracelets. I also got her a dolphin lamp, because that's her favorite animal, but without a range of earrings I could get her, the ideas I have for her are limited.

What are some of her favorite activities? Concert tickets? Does she like working out? Could get her workout clothes, preworkout, duffle bag and yoga mat. Maybe plan a couples self love day with a trip to get massages and nails, and take her to her favorite restaurant. Show her that you actually know her as your girlfriend and as a person. Provide her with a memory that will last a lifetime, rather than something that will break one day will. Paint her something (acrylic pours are super easy and every time she sees it, she will think of you! I did this for my boyfriends birthday and did two of them that proudly hang in his living room). The options are endless.

I stand by the painting idea, or figure out what size shoes she wears and what style she likes most and find something similar but beautiful. A beautiful purse that is versatile is always great, I suggest either black, cream or tan as you can wear those year round.

Probably under $30, I already have to buy two gifts for my mom and sister at the same ccx time so if all are $30 then its $180 at one time, or if you count my dad's Christmas present then its $210 if I pay $30 per gift.

How dont they know? I mean we tried on class rings senior year and they had to size us. Do your girl not wear promise rings? Ask her to size her for that but surprise her with engagement
