No, why should they? It's not their responsibility, and that would be a great way to not only lose business, but money, as well.

Don't forget that, even though Visa & MC do issue credit cards, they also handle the payment processing for numerous bank-issued debit cards, as well. If/when they ever started denying their customers access to their own money, all hell would break loose. You just can't do that.

As far as Visa/MC-issued credit cards, they do retain the right to cancel a person's card, if necessary, if said customer is over their limit, and the company is concerned about their ability to pay. That's fine, as it's part of the agreement you sign when obtaining the card.

Just denying transactions because they feel like it? Hell no.

On principle, yes. It's their company, not yours. But I also think people have the right to demand otherwise or threaten moving their patronage elsewhere. People don't do that, though. They'd rather convenience and let these companies do whatever they want to them. The people willingly gave up their control and agency. Frankly, they deserve this. They should wake the hell up already and do something about it but based on their track record, they won't.

It’s their money, and I’ve always been of the mindset of “if it’s your money you can do whatever you want with it.” Credit cards are loans and loans can come with stipulations but honestly? I can also see this going the route of “if buying isn’t owning, then pirating isn’t stealing.” That people have with some strict gaming license purchases that don’t allow the buyer to own the game they’ve bought. As far as I know, they’re not impeding purchases made with debit, which they shouldn’t be anyway, so that’s nbd.

I don't see where that would ever be good for business, nor do I see any reason why they would even care. You make the request and purchase the bill is yours to pay.
