2. Slurping noodles is a good sign

Ramen, soba, udon, noodle etc. If you slurp while eating them, it means you liked it.

3. You can sleep drunk in public places

And don't worry nobody will steal your wallet!

4. You can smoke in restaurants

It's a salary man culture. They get out of work and eat, drink and smoke. But the interesting thing is that you can't smoke on the streets.

5. You don't say "bless you"

There is no such pharase in Japanese. If you see someone sneezing just ignore it. You don't have to say anything.

6. You can read books in the book stores

You can read books or magazines in the book stores and you don't have to buy them. You can even read the entire book!

7. You can hold your bowl while eating

If the bowl fits your hand then go for it.

8. Some soups are drunk from the bowl

You don't use any spoon, you just drink it from the bowl.

Cool. It's amazing how many different cultures we have around the world.
Homeless sleeping in public is common in big cities in the USA. See it everyday. Sleeping drunk in public seems odd to me.
