I'm sure we have all gone through this feeling of not being good enough or imperfection. Whether it may be in a relationship, work, friends or family.. pretty much anything.

Atelophobia is another word that is not commonly used but has a very significant meaning that plays a part in all our lives. Living up to certain perfections is heavily advertised in society these days.

Most of us are scared of making mistakes, that's not a bad thing either but there's a difference, for example.. getting nervous before talking to a crowd VS skipping the whole presentation because the thought of it is terrifying you. Of course this is a phobia, hence why the word phobia is stated in the word Atelophobia. However the difference being a Atelophobia is steering clear of situations where you seem imperfect or would make a mistake. It's not the fear of people judging you, it's more of you judging yourself before anything takes place. The standards that you set results in you being very critical of your own work/self and this shows you always searching for the problem.

Making mistakes is natural, it's the only way we learn. Just like when you were younger and riding a bike, or when it was the first time you cooked and you burnt food. It's life, but I for one know that getting away from having Atelophobia is hard, I go through it too. I guess the first way of solving it, is knowing that you might have this sort of thing in your life. Maybe it stops you from achieving your personal set goals?

Hopefully this makes sense, it's a hard thing to explain because it's a topic that has many parts in it.
