The Journal Of A Young Polemicist

As some of you have noticed, I can be a bit of a contrarian and a polemicist. My views are sometimes unpopular, controversial or even normal at times. But that doesn't concern me, as my views are my own and I don't need your permission to have that view nor your permission to express it.

But, I digress.

Usually, I'll debate things I'm passionate and knowledgeable about, such as religion, morality or reproductive Rights. This gets me hatemail and arguments rather often, and that's alright. I can handle it. I mainly do it for my own entertainment, but also to force them to actually think about what they are saying and believing.

My favorite topic to debate, however, is religion. There is so much arrogance, hubris and toxicity with religion and it's practictioners. Of course there are some who don't, I'm not trying to make a broad generality. But most of the hate mail I get every week, isn't by anti choicers, nor something political, it's religious fundamentalists that in the same breath feel it right to say I'm damned, unclean, evil, immoral and stupid, while also saying I can be saved with their specific product..sorry, faith. I don't buy into it. You want me? Want my soul saved? Prove your religion is correct. Prove it's real. Most of all, and the hardest part to do, have god prove he's not an immoral monster. So far, none have succeeded.

But that's for another day, and another take.

What I want to say in particular, it's ok to be controversial. It's ok to have an opinion or belief outside the norm and mainstream. But you MUST be able to back it up, for you will be challenged on it.

Some topics need to be fought for or against. Anything from helping the apostasy escape fundamentalist bullying, to attacking the ones who would take your daughters rights away.

Now, one last thing not necessarily related, but still pertinent. If you are an apostate, basically someone who wants to or has left religion and need someone to talk to you, I'm here.
