It depends on a few factors... 1. Who's house is it? -mine: 95% of the time, no I'm not in house shoes -someone else's: whatever their rules are 2. What season is it? -the colder it is the more likely I am to wear house shoes 3. What kind of floor is it? -wood floors I'm more likely to wear house shoes 4. Do I know how to navigate in the dark without stubbing my toes? -the more familiar I am with the space, the less likely I am to wear house shoes
No. I wear thick socks or house shoes. We aren't pedantic like Japaneses but wearing street shoes in house is unacceptable and if you visit someone you have to ask the host if you can keep street shoes in his home.
I absolutely hate having shoes in the house and hate it even more when a guest or workers come into the house with their shoes on 😤. I know its convenient to take your shoes off anywhere in the house or to keep them on but why contaminate a perfectly clean house where you could roll on the floor if you wanted to with countless dog poop and god knows what else from out there lol
We (my wife and I) don't have a cultural prohibition against wearing shoes in the house. We go in and out and walk around in the house. When I'm planning to stay inside for a while, I've gotten in the habit of slipping mine off just inside the door for comfort. When we have guests, we don't remove shoes.
As the owner of a flooring compqny specialising in most things flooring, I LOVE people who wear their shoes inside - its where I get a lot of my business. However, if only you knew the type of bacterias you were bringing in, then letting your kids crawl around on, or following rhe 5 second rule if you drop food... grim 🤢
I walk around in shoes, slippers, socks and barefoot. I sweep the floors and mop them and use mats at the doorway. Since I in and out in the garden regularly, the shoe on off is highly inconvenient. I simply sweep and mop more.
Oh, have to add this. Walking on my wood floors in warm weather is DELICIOUSLY cool. NOthing like it!!! But winter!!! No way. Cold floors are awful.
I have no carpet and talk about DIRTY. Carpets can never be sanitized. They hold filth. You can't Stanley Steemer them weekly unless you're rich. TAKE THEM OUT!!! Use area rugs that CAN be cleaned regularly when it's colder and your tootsies can't handle bare floors.
I don't like shoes very much and anytime I can go without wearing them I will. This means that in my house I don't wear shoes at all.

I used to wear shoes in the house until they were stolen. I went to report this to the police and when I returned my house was gone. Also stolen. Now I wear shoes in the park, where I live
Live in Colorado, and it’s far too snowy to even think about it. Plus, shoes aren’t meant for inside. And it’s rude. Never been asked to keep on my shoes at any of my friends homes either. Socks or barefoot only. No slides even.
