It didn't last long. It was a flop
Keep in mind this was way before 8 track tapes and cassette tapes were even thought of
Cars didn't have "built in" record players, but they were available from third parties (my dad had a 63 Ford Galaxy 500 in the late 60s, with a record player installed on the hump under the dash). They had very strong springs to hold the tone arm down, so they were hard on the records.
I've never actually seen a car record player, but I had a car mount for my Sony Discman in the late 80s, which people were very impressed with, as CDs in cars wasn't yet a thing. I also had a high end cassette deck that the CD connected to - one of the first ever head units with a Line In. My dumbass spent far more money on the car stereo than I did on the car itself... The folly of youth.
I did that with with CB radios and linear amps to boost illegal watts to your antenna
So you used Sideband?
Strange that laser discs never really caught on. Now if you find one at a thrift store you can use them as Frisbees.
@Daniela1982 yes I use sideband frequencys very often
As for me growing up it was all about cassette tapes & cd players & when I was a teenager I wired up a record player to my car to see if I could do it & I had everyone laughing & so many people my age were amazed & if I wanted to skip a song all I had to do is hit a bump.
I would have done the same thing
Also before cellphones I hooked up a private phone system in my car using two old cordless phones so I could talk to my friends mobile to mobile.
We had CB radios for that
On of my friends had a CB in his car a long time ago & I had & still have Motorola two way radios & believe it or not those radio still work & durning hurricane season I hand them out to my neighbors.
I could see that as being a problem with storing records in your car. I would be interested in knowing if you could play them while driving and how would you keep them from skipping. Do you ever wonder why VHS tape players were never put in cars for the kids to watch movies on long trips? Yeah, and playing albums in your car would be a trick too.
We had a Dodge mini van with a VHS player built-in, it worked just fine on long road trips
But wasn't that before big screen TV's? Older TV's were huge and heavy.
I do not but its cool. I remember cassette decks. They were and are still better then cd players
Some of my cassettes I made sound better than a CD. I still have a cassette player in my home stereo system. I'm thinking no one makes after market in dash radios with cassette players anymore. Last I heard no one now makes a VHS player either.
@Daniela1982 Yes! I run derby cars so when I go to the junk yard or even buy my junk car I normally find the cassette decks
I bet not too many of them are still operable.
@Daniela1982 Hit or miss. Depends how long they been in the elements in the junk yard

I'm not THAT old lolol but do remember when cars had eight track tape players
What is the eight track tape player sponge? Is it the one found in the mercedes 180c which was made in the 80's?
You're the vintage expert in here 😁
The asker thinks that these vinyl records are old, he haven't seen you're radio yet 📻 😀
@TonyMetal___86 my radio isn't as old as record players, it plays CD 's and tapes
The naughty sponge knows that her radio makes a fortune and she doesn't have to work anymore if she sell it but still she hugs and shout "no one will take my 19th century radio from me except on my corpse" and the customers will back off, affraid and confused to what happened suddenly to this sponge 🤣🤣
Heck I still have radios that still use vacuum tubes
@Brainsbeforebeauty CD'SSSS the CD'ZZZZ of the spongy forehead 🤣
@TonyMetal___86 are you okay? 🤣🤣
@Brainsbeforebeauty I'll never be okay until i bite and tear this spongy forehead apart at any cost 😬😬
@TonyMetal___86 that sounds kinda stalker serial killer ish
Come here little spongy forehead 🔨😈
@TonyMetal___86 🚪🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️ I'm out of here
😂😂
@TonyMetal___86 on second thought,...🔫🔫⚰️ never bring a hammer to a gun fight 🤣
Not if we are in a matrix where i can dudge the bullets and win this fight by biting the spongy forehead 😬😂
@TonyMetal___86 hard to bite of you won't have your teeth
Remember that they are from steel now, can't break 😬😬
Customized to bite the sponge's forehead without fear 🤣
@TonyMetal___86 oh go bite a muffin already or a dead chicken🤣
You can never compare a chicken to a dead duck, chickens were created so they live and become a human's meal 😁
You see miss brains a chicken is so simple, it's just a bunch of meat that will turn into crispy and a chicken was created without a brain so it doesn't think at all other than being a delicious food on the king's table 😂
🐓🍗 👀
@TonyMetal___86 I do have a lot of chicken here I need to make lol
Oh really! Can i have a spongy forehead plus chicken plus a muffin as a combo meal? 😋
Will pay CASH $ if the sponge is included in the combo
@TonyMetal___86 sorry I'm not for sale🤣 besides, you couldn't afford me, I'm priceless🤣🤣
True 😩 i can afford to buy the sponge in my own way, not with money for sure ☻
@TonyMetal___86 you're making me need a drink lolol
Mcgormick and mcthompson from mctony so he receives a mcfries from mcdo's by mcsponge 😁
@TonyMetal___86 hahaha 🤣🤣 that's a tongue twister, try dating that fast five times lolol
@TonyMetal___86 *saying not dating lolol
A tongue twister for the sponge haha...
Miss brains should get a paycheck just because her presence kills the boredom, can be bored with this naughty sponge 🤣
If the sponge becomes a housewife, her family will be crying every night from laughter but the man has always to be aware of her naughtiness level 😁
@TonyMetal___86 I'm not naughty, I'm not, I'm not😝
Haha
@TonyMetal___86 👼🏼👼🏼👼🏼👼🏼
I had one of those. They were a bitch over a bumpy road.
Yeah, they had flaws, they were made to park and make-out with your Honey
I'm old but I'm not old enough to remember that. I have heard of them before.
I don't remember that at all. CDs yes, and small cassettes, but not those.
I remember seeing this in a J. C. Whitney catalog but I have never seen one in person.
I don’t remember that, that would skip a lot during play when driving from every bump
Yeah I figured that was a problem, I’ve even had cds skip on rough roads
I’ve seen lots of cars from that era, never seen one with a record player though
Yeah, now this is before my time. 😁
This ain't a tape player, looks like a vintage cd player
Im not that old but I still have 8 track tapes even tho that was way before my time too
I only remembered the cassette, CD player back in the 2000s
Pretty sure that never happened. At least passed the prototype stage.
I do remember 8 tracks, but no record players.
No 8 track is the oldest I remember
I only remember using cds in our car. 🥴🥴🥴
I’ve never heard of that before
You were born in...1920?
No 1968 why
I've never seen one of those!
Maybe rich people's cars did.
I would not wanna have to experience this
