Inspired by my last question where I said cursive is no longer a necessary skill and people got mad at me lol honestly maybe y’all are right bc my handwriting is atrocious.
First picture is my handwriting where I’m somewhat trying and second picture is what my chicken scratch looks like when I have to write orders down mad fast at work. It’s unintelligible but I’m the only one who has to read it so it’s okay 🙂 sometimes my handwriting is so bad to the point where I can’t even read it myself lol(Sorry the pictures are purple. My actual lightbulb went out and I’m too lazy to change it so I’m using my led lights)
I print when it's something that other people have to read clearly, like my address on a form. I can also write legibly in cursive if I slow down.
I write in cursive a lot. I think it's because I'm lazy and don't like to life my pen from the paper. And I can scribble fast. Like notes to myself, lists, taking notes at lectures or meetings.
And I'm like you. Even I can barely decipher some of my fast cursive. At school, I would always copy my original notes legibly and expand upon them as a way of studying the material while the lecture was still clear in my mind.
In 2nd grade I had to learn cursive and the last half of the year required cursive. I didn’t have as good of handwriting in cursive, then when I returned to printing in 3rd grade (new school) it was worse and more flowy. People have always told me my handwriting sucks but now in high school I think I have better handwriting than most because they all use print but have kept the flowiness from when they learned cursive and it’s difficult to read. I focused on kind of getting rid of flowiness but not completely.
I always have to put in effort when I write or the letters will end up so small - that it just ends up looking like dots. While my class mates where learning cursive - I was learning how to write in a consistent size.
The notebook is me putting a slightly more effort into my writing since it's something I've to use - the other peace is just my grocery list, so scribbled down quick.
I find that there's nothing wrong with your handwriting when you take your time. But when you're taking orders from people you have to take it fast and you don't have time. Basically it's your form a shorthand. You do print beautifully. Have you tried cursive? There is also another form of written communications and that is called shorthand.
I write cursive and barely lift pen tip while writing a word. I learned to write that way in my study time where I had to handwrite a lot. Writing like people in 18-19 century did is easier than we have been taught in elementary school.
Both my print and cursive are atrocious. But at least my print is somewhat legible. My cursive not at all. I write too damn fast, always have. My cursive is fine if I make myself slow down but that never happens so I never use it
