I work in the Tech sector. As a femme, it's pretty shit, but fortunately my team has a fairly even male-female split and my bosses are very much egalitarian in terms of gender.
It was worse when I was in private sector. Now I'm in public sector and it's much better in terms of working culture.
Fortunately no one tries to challenge me on my knowledge since my field is emerging and not many people know enough to challenge. I also don't give people much chance to challenge it, because as soon as I'm done introducing what I do I shift it to what they do. People love talking about themselves.
Yes I have an auto shop. I wasn't trained to be a mechanic, but I always loved cars, especially a Trans Am! I met my husband when I was 25. He was already a licensed mechanic and rebuilds transmissions. We got married and I was planning to get into cosmetology, but that didn't work out, so I started working w/him in '13. We have a shop together and I am not licensed, but I am the helper/secretary.
I am a good cook and I also pay attention to how my home is furnished and decorated. That is balanced by me also doing automotive, electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry work.
Babysitting. Definitely non-traditional as most guys are assumed pedo and parents just don’t like guys around their kids.
How did you get into it? My observations match your own. I simply can’t believe any parents would let an unrelated male watch their kids. Those stigmas are so pervasive it’s incredibly difficult even for male teachers to get jobs below high skool levels.
@Chazmatazz269 took. care of my own and friends introduce me to someone in need.
Already a dad is kind of a shoo-in, cheater! Ell oh ell!

Yeap. I hunt and trap, I do bushcrafting, I get into fights when necessary and I greatly enjoy working with my hands, such as with tools or simply making something.
They tend to either be genuinely interested, they think I'm joking or they mock it. I don't care personally how they see me or my hobbies
That is awesome! Please tell me you’re getting more women involved in your hobbies!
Are you a scout leader by any chance?
Always good skills to have. I’m going to try putting my older daughter in scouts next season. I understand you know we should’ve done this a couple years ago but you know what was going on a couple years ago too and that just wasn’t a realistic possibility. When I find a teaching job, I will be home in the evening so that I can volunteer as a Girl Scout leader.
I don’t remember ever consciously having a preference for having a son versus having a daughter, and now I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
Are you assisting her with getting her CCW permit? That’s some thing I wish a lot more women would be taking a lot more seriously. The good news on that front is almost every first time CCW customer I see at work is a woman.
My oldest is seven, and already has a lot of fun with our vegetable garden and a nerf gun I got her to get her started. I would have put her in scouts at five but that was somewhat difficult in 2020
You might think I would be upset about you doing things non traditionally or having a girlfriend because we don’t agree on everything but honestly if you pull your weight and shoot a good group I’ll go to the range or on a hike with you any time. When I got back from the navy there was a bi girl in my friends group who I would check out girls with and it was awesome. We’d notice different things and it was interesting to see what someone who knew what they were looking at and talking about from qualified experience had to say.
No problem man, we don't need to agree on most everything to still have at least a basic respect for one another. I don't agree with almost everyone on here in either religion or politics, but that's honestly. It's a topic, not a foundational requirement.
Exactly, and I'm a pretty good shot if I do say so myself.
But no frets, I didn't peg you as that kind of traditionalist. You're rational and you think, which is why I like talking to you
Followed. I used to do all right with a single action Ruger Black Hawk in 357, but between locked downs and having a special needs toddler I haven’t had a chance to go out in the woods or to a range in quite some time. I miss both of them.
That being so close to the finish line landing a teaching job I’ve been tearing out the little hair I have left trying to make sure I’ve applied everywhere and called back or emailed back or gone to the job fair or done the networking event. I picked up a Ruger 10/22 which came with a scope from the factory and a hard case using my staff discount😁 of course it was for the seven year old girl…of course😆
I’m looking forward to the Ruger Marlin 1894 in 45-70 to start arriving at the store.
How often is fighting really “necessary”? Ell oh ell!
@Chazmatazz269 fighting what exactly? In order to answer the question you need to be more specific.
I don’t know. The original commenter said she will fight when necessary or something of the like. I’ll be 49 this year, and i’ve been in my share of fights, but i can say with confidence that none of them were necessary. I’m just curious if this was simply a turn of phrase, or if this person has had a terrifying life. Ell oh ell!
@Chazmatazz269 fights aren’t cool or exciting, and should only be a last resort. People who think fights are either of those have likely never been in one.
Indeed, but neither of those descriptors were used here. The only qualifier was “necessary”, and i’m not convinced fighting is ever necessary.
@Chazmatazz269 Those who refuse to fight for anything sort themselves out of the gene pool into the dustbin of history in short order. I can respect your commitment to pacifism if you can acknowledge that the long-term success outlook is not particularly good.
Who said i’m a pacifist? I literally said, “I’ve been in my share of fights.”! Ell oh ell! That doesn’t mean any of them were NECESSARY. I’m fairly certain that if all fights aren’t avoidable, the vast majority are. People are irrational, illogical and quite frankly stoopid. We resort to violence thousands of times more often than is “necessary”. The idea that we “have to fight” for something or anything is quite plainly absurd. It’s nothing more than irrational justification of asinine behavior.
I have, I worked in a swimwear manufacturing company. Guaranteed I've touched more bikinis and swimsuits than every woman on this site combined.
My friends mother worked for Patagonia for years. She can probably run elbows with your numbers. She used to bring me lots of goodies.
*rub elbows
I did it for 8 years, but I was the person that spread the fabric out, laid the patterns out, cut it out and bundled it up and sent it out to be sewn. Every style every shape every cup size. I was doing about 30 to 45,000 suits a day. The place is called de la mer. We also did shit for Hawaiian tropic
Hard work that.
I sit down to pee. I don’t care who knows. I clean the bathroom myself, and less splatter means cleaning less often. Call it as you see fit, but it’s just more efficient.
I’ve been applying to teach at elementary schools.
Nice! I hope they let you carry.
@Jamie05rhs that’s not why I’ve been applying. I’m trying to leave public safety behind, I’m not about that life anymore. Now I want to make a difference in students live as a teacher. My university sent me the certificate I need to teach in my state last week and I’ve been trying to hustle and make that happen. I can’t wait till the day when kids doing stupid stuff which escalated to a public safety call isn’t my problem anymore though I can say that much😆
Ehh, well... Fingers crossed for you, sir. 😬. That's all I can say.
Just remain vigilant at all times.
Good luck! Keep us posted. It’s VERY difficult for men to get jobs teaching young children in the US.
@Chazmatazz269 I’m starting to see that…
I taught elementary school children for 22 years
I have always let my wife go on holiday while I stay home, even with young kids still on the bottle to look after. Still happens now 20+ years later.

Extremely sensitive empath with some pretty feminine things I've noticed about n within myself.
I wouldn't say I'm a testosterone Timmy but I'm a bloke.

The kitchen is my favorite playground. I'm like a mad scientist, experimenting with recipes. I also find it therapeutic, when I'm depressed.
Non traditional for your gender
As for reactions... Most guys crack jokes for fun and compliment the food... Most gals are excited by the idea that a man enjoys cooking and baking, and compliment the food.
What I'm saying this, there are TON of Male chefs. A lot more than there are female chefs. So I don't know why you associate cheffing with women
I get that. I mean, true there are plenty of male chefs, but in my experience there are far fewer male home cooks, and even fewer as compared to women who really and truly enjoy cooking. I've never been to a dinner party where I assumed the guy had made the meal, and I'm usually right it's the girlfriend or wife. As someone who loves to cook myself, it is always a pleasure to meet a guy who enjoys it as well so that bit is true too.
Home cook I agree. Men usually BBQ though
@KostasKouvalis
Yes... I'm talking about cooking at home. I don't think I would be able to keep loving it, if it became a career. It's an artistic passion, is all, for me.
Nope I work a very traditional job as a man.
I like to cook and am pretty good at it. Most women I've dated react positively to it. I just wish I could find a woman who can cook as well.
Getting white girl wasted
No, at least not yet anyway.
I do not... yet anyway 😁
I worked at Victoria Secret
And you enjoyed every minute of it, don’t lie.
I won't. I did. I worked at corporate.
