Whats the most frightening thing you ever awoken to? Anything ever left you trembling?

I was just given quite a scare about 30 minutes ago. I was awoken from a deep sleep to:

🚨🌟"BEEP"🌟🚨 🌟"BEEP"🌟🚨 🔥FIRE 🔥

The sound of my smart fire alarm. I fell into auto Mommy sergeant first class mode. Survival instincts kicking in. As my mind quickly shifted to fire evacuation plan.

As I flew off the bed I automatically grabbed the sleeping pet who had laid beside me and tucked it under my arm like it was a football I ran for my bedroom door. The next mission:

THE KIDS

who each have been taught to do the same grab the nearest pet if possible and evacuate. I CHARGED into the hall Running straight for the first kid bedroom...

But I sensed something was off...

No more...

🚨🌟"BEEP"🌟🚨 🌟"BEEP"🌟🚨 🔥FIRE 🔥

But why? Every fire alarm in the house should be going off talking to each others (most annoying thing you ever heard but very affective) Pet still tucked in like a foot ball I cautiously investigated... No smell of smoke no lights no self communicating smart alarms ringing no unexplained heat... (hmm?) as I made my way to the living I noticed for the first time the News is on at

FULL BLAST...

ON THE NEWS is a fire investigation and the news crew at a fire department discussing the case and discussing the importance of a good fire alarm system...

Confusion. understanding. begin to mingle. Looking around still investigating... I see... The tv remote on the floor... Something on top of it... The cat near by...

Slight relief but I still explored the whole house adrenaline still pumping High... (Pet still held tight probably sensing my tension remains still). I then relax when I conclude it was only the television... The news... it's was somehow turned on & the volume raised to max.

I'm trembling. I realize I am undergoing a PTSD reaction from an ACTUAL BEING AWAKEN TO FIRE & SMOKE EXPERIENCE. But we're safe now. No fire this time. It's now that I noticed the pet in my arm and I carefully set him down.

it did give me a rush... but exactly fear, though

probably the firs time I was woken up by Cartel battles gunfire... lol

and I mean battle... not just few guns, here and there, full squads or armed people going nuts and where the most simple thing they bring is the AK-47's and everything else is way louder and well, annoying

I was just a bit surprised how vastly different of a situation is when it's an actually dangerous situation, I had known guns since a very early age but only in very different settings, not exactly used as they can be used when targeting someone's life

it truly is... actually, you could also feel how your insides do tremble with every grenade explosion, even if they're a couple of streets away

( I do live at the border, so I also live and work on both sides)

I wasn't in or near the epicenter, so nothing got damaged.

Sooo nothing has left me fked up... than those times when i was kid when I supposedly didn't like cyclops. First time, there was one coming out of my mom's room aand... that was just a dream. Next time was pleakly, from stitch in a dress and he ate me. :)

I started hearing weird noises and just laid in bed and said fuck it. Something grabbed my leg and started dragging me down my huge bed.

A real situation later many years later was to wake up and find my 2 year old running around outside about 11 stories high on these rafter things that workers set up. He did that twice... fuck having a condo.

@Guardian45 No, it was just a very bizarre happening, and never had a sleep walking episode before or afterward. Scared the hell out of me though, waking up standing in the closet and injuring my hand like that.

@Guardian45 A guy I work with at the state office has PTSD and fell down a flight of stairs and dislocated his shoulder. Ugly

Yup! That's scary when you wake from a deep sleep! Glad you were ok!

I've had some scares:

- once when a minor earthquake hit, while I was at work in Japan;

- once when an F1 racecar hit the wall at 300kph and burst into fire in front of me;

- once when I had to belay off a broken down chairlift;

- and finally once when I lost control of my car in a snowstorm, avoided a dumptruck and buried my car into a snowbank.

All pretty frightening!

One early evening In my current house the fire alarms went off. We gathered and began to pile out the house because we certainly noticed a heavy heat coming from the kitchen but we were paused in our tracks at the doors the fire was outside our home on the electric and cable wires attached to our roof the cables came falling down and we actually couldn't leave the house through either door because both were blocked by the wires I then marched everyone back in to the farthest back room. The fire department came immediately and thankfully took care of the issue. After they investigate and they found that the 98° weather plus the Sun hitting down on that one corner of my home hit high temperatures that spiked their heat equipment readers to just at the highest marks. The Lead of the firehouse department could not make sense of it he's never seen anything like that before it was just a freak occurrence. My entire neighborhood was without electricity or Wi-Fi. A good thing though was the neighborhood got an upgrade on their electric posts wires.

@meetkitty123 Wow that is something else well the neighbor's garage was an arsonist and they caught who did it.. Thankfully they found who did it and it was horrible but to this day I am scared of fire.

My ex-girlfriend thought (falsely) that I was cheating on her because of a text message she saw on my phone, so she woke me up with a punch to the balls, followed by squeezing. The look on her face was like she wanted to crack them... So yeah I'd say that was pretty frightening

It didn't frighten me or wake me up trembling but, one night, I was sleeping on the porch swing, as I was won't to do in the summer, and woke up at about 3:00 a. m. to a guy just above my head beating off!!! I think I was between 14 and 16.

@Guardian45 Yes! Quite!! Sadly, I couldn't wake up enough to see who it was. For the longest time, I thought it might've been a guy that lived across the street from my back yard because he ran off in that direction and had similar hair to that guy but, I VERY SERIOUSLY doubt Bruce was the kind of guy to do that!! I hadn't even seen him in about 6 years!! These days, I'm thinking it was the guy that lived on the second floor next door to me because he'd already molested me twice!! But, the haircut wasn't the same. His hair was curly, like Columbo's and, whoever this guy was, he had straight hair cut into a pageboy!

My daughter was with a friend and she was supposed to be watching movies at his house with his parents home and she was supposed to be home by 11. I fell asleep early. I had a horrible nightmare of her being abducted. I woke up, checked her location and saw she was behind the grocery store at 1 am. I called, no answer.
I grabbed my gun and flashlight and ran to my truck and started driving to where I’d seen her phone location. As I pulled out in the road…here they come racing home.
I was furious with them both.
I’ve never been frightened as an adult until I had that dream and saw her where she shouldn’t be.

My kids once took off from the house when they were little 4 and 7yrs old not telling me I was in the shower I got out to an empty house front door (which I locked) wide open no lie wrapped in a towel and dripping wet I ran out the front door calling for them I ran around the whole perimeter of the home and they were not there I literally not even thinking or noticing that I was barefooted and still wrapped in a towel running to the street calling for them I was in hysterics I went back to the house only to grab my cell phone texted my father just as I'm about to dial 911 he calls me by then I back outside calling for my kids and it's with my dad on the phone him asking but what about the dog (who most likely would have attacked an intruder) that's when I realized the dog is gone too by this point I had drawn attention from the neighbors seeing me in a panic came out calling for my kids too I then began to run up the street around the bend panicking because in the recent news there was a case of wanted criminals who would kidnapping children using and elder person in a van I knew they weren't captured yet and I live right there by the highway so I made full speed for the highway once around that corner I can see the far distance two little moving figures My screams were a cross between relief happiness and pure anger what were they doing all over there 4 neighborhoods down. Turns out the dog ran off from them. I was so furious I had to relay the ground rules don't touch the door while I'm in the shower and never run for the dog get a grown up first! I also got a better latch. Everyone of them including the dog got a time out!
