Has 🚙 jumping to the other side of a vehicle saved lives? So what if a seatbelt prevents you from jumping to the other side in a split second?

I heard someone talking about this. I've read one study that says that some people drive less good when wearing seatbelets because they are too comfortable...of course seatbelts are not the end all and be all. Butt I'm not talking about skills.. I'm talking about split second decisions...

Seatblets are useful and most times ejection is what kills.

I don't think it's worth it nor that the benefits outright the risks... I'm just wanting to start a discussion about this.

Crumple zones in modern cars are supposed to create a safe shell around a person while seated properly in a vehicle. Moving outside these boundaries can increase a person's risk of serious injury or death.

Havng watched accidents and near misses for almost a decade, I have strong reservations about the reflexes of the average person, especially at high speed or sudden traumatic events.

And as someone who spends 14 hours a day driving, I wouldn't enter a public roadway without a seat belt on and without the hubris of thinking my reflexes can outperform velocity and inertia.

I'm sorry but this is an incredibly stupid question. Car accidents happen incredibly fast, you'll never know if jumping into another part of the vehicle will actually save your life before it happens and you'll almost certainly not have time to do it anyway.

What your suggesting is like exposing yourself to radiation because it could kill cancer cells. Problem is, it's far more likely to cause cancer, and just like not wearing a seat belt, kill you.

Are you ready to fly through your windshield like a rag doll and become a living piece of modern art on the pavement? Or would you rather have a slight discomfort of a seatbelt strap across your chest and hips? It's not rocket science, my friend. Don't be a moron.

There's always "ONE story" about a person not wearing a seat belt who got thrown free of a vehicle ( through the window? windshield?) and it saved their life. There there are the thousands of stories where seat belts and airbags saved lives.

This discussion is a dead horse. It's actually something that "government" got right.

a lethal speed would give you no chance to just jump, even if no seat belt

I doubt it, but it doesn't matter. Seatbelts and airbags have saved thousands of lives, including possibly mine. I hydroplaned into a Jersey barrier at 45 mph and walked away.
