Why is it so soothing to hear someone sleeping?

It’s the sunny afternoon. I have gotten up to get myself a yoghurt and watch a Detective and I heard my housekeeper sleeping, she’s got a noon break, it feels so soothing to hear someone sleeping peacefully,

reminds me of my childhood when my grandma went to sleep in the afternoon and when the home sounded so peaceful and quiet. No one has to hurry anywhere, it’s sunny outside and it feels like you are in a meditative state.

I have felt the same when I listened to my pup breathing while sleeping. I would cuddle up with him and we’d sleep together in the afternoon.

Rhythm, I suppose. Though we rarely fell asleep around one another as we didn’t live together, my ex did nap a few times laying her head on my chest. I think my breathing and my heartbeat did it.

Contrast that with my Dad’s snoring, and he can clear a room if he falls asleep. Same with my Grandfather. I’ve been told I don’t have that issue, but I can’t personally confirm that. I had to wear ear plugs when I shared a room with my father when we went to visit my Grandfather. He actually said to my Grandfather “Yeah, he had to wear ear plugs because he could hear you in the other room.” I looked at him like “really?”.

When our cat was still alive he had a little pad we kept at the foot of the bed. Sometimes I would wake up and listen to my fife sleeping next to me and hear the cst sleeping at the foot of the bed. It really was soothing. I would think about how compfotable nd warm I was.

Oh yes! My 🐈 kitty cat Abby and I used to take naps whenever possible. I would lay (lie?) on my big king sized bed that had a country quilt and matching country pillow cases. I had four pillows on the bed. She always slept on the extra pillow above my head and out her little paw on my head - touching. Off to sleep we'd go and yes, it was very peaceful and heavenly.

do you have past trauma building connections? i mean you are all alone in a distant land. running or getting away from people you know... it's hard to connect with friends and even guys that want to do you. maybe i don't know enough about you, but it seems like your past was traumatic in some way

Funny you used that cat picture. My parent's cat had a slight snore when in deep sleep and you could hear him sleeping from one floor above or below. :-D

Maybe seeing the sight and hearing the sounds of somebody relaxing, really makes us feel relaxed.. Like a contagion of something.. Similar to yawning..

Yawn and the room yawns with you. It is the same deal I think. I sleep better with a girl beside me. It is easier to drift off to my cat purring.

I do call my parents, they told me to go there and heal my leg there. But I’d not like to be a burden to anyone.

I can heal on my own. I am fine. I called my coworkers and told them we can stroll with my wheelchair sometime when they have time.

How is it creepy to hear someone sleeping and momentarily be remembered of your childhood? 🤣 It’s not like I went to her and listened to her sleep. I heard it when I was in the kitchen, since she had her door open.
