Did anyone else play with fire when they were younger?

Question

I had many fire moments, one was we made a fire in a empty pizza box and it started getting bigger so I had to run to the nearest body of water with a flaming pizza box 🙂

Also we made flame throwers with axe spray and a lighter and started burning a huge branch and we decided to do it in the stairwell where it was getting too big as well so we started panicking and everyone started jumping and stomping on the fire branch 😂

There's more but if I make this long enough people will just skip my question so I'll stop here lol

Almost burnt down a whole neighborhood burning dried kudzu in the back yard. That stuff lined the whole neighborhood. I got down to the last match and didn't want to blow out the flame since I couldn't make more. It got huge before I snapped out of enjoying watching it and I realized I couldn't blow it out anymore... I ran around looking for a hose with no luck. So, I ran inside and just sat there looking innocent. Luckily, my mom came home within 5 minutes and saw the fire right away and put it out.

Another time, I was playing with cigarettes and burning holes in a spare mattress at my great grandfather's. I was keeping it small and putting them out regularly, but I couldn't put the last one out when the adults yelled at us to go wait outside. I tried spitting on it, and again no water was nearby. Luckily, the adults smelled the burning mattress and put it out again.

Then, I was burning tissues in the bathroom sink once. I'd learned my lesson about being near water at least. My brother kept wanting a turn. Right after he started, and I left, my mom walked in and he got in trouble instead of me. He still tells everyone that story.

Another time, I made a flame thrower in my dad's living room with hair spray and a lighter. My cousins took turns as well, but one o the times I kept it going too long and set the carpet on fire. We put it out, but it was a bit crisp. My dad never noticed.

After that, I kept it to burning things in candles in my room. Burning my cut hair smelled so bad that I wasn't really interested in burning things anymore.

There might be more, but those are the big times. I worried my kids might be pyros, so I warned them a lot.

Buuut, my son tried heating a blade on the stove once and set the kitchen and yard on fire. The plastic around the blade began melting once the metal was white hot. He went to grab a paper towel to clean up the plastic, but set the paper towels and everything paper on the counter on fire. Then, he ran out back to throw the blade out and didn't realize the dry grass would all catch fire. He then sat on the couch and pretended nothing happened just like I did as a kid. I only figured it out after a few days of considering the evidence. Two fires unlikely to have spread on their own although possible, plastic drips on the floor by the back door, the melted blade, and a strange burn on the back of his wrist that didn't match his story.

He confessed, we laughed, talked, and moved on. None of them have played with fire since.

Mine isn't quite so cheerful (sorry), it's actually traumatic. Me and my friends taught some other kids to do the spray/flame thing. One of those kids, my friend's brother, burned down a building and later killed himself from the shame of it. :(

When I was a kid we used to set the woods on fire. At the beach we used to gat a big log that had been washed ashore and set a couple of empty coffee cans and nail them on the log. We punched a couple of holes in the cans and filled them with gas. We would set them on file and send them out to sea. I made a molotov cocktail once.

Definitely! Kids are natural pyros because they don't know the real danger of what a fire can do.

when I told my nephews/nieces/kids to play fire outside (not inside the house)… they freaked out… they thought I was going to yell at them for playing with fire.

it’s fun and interesting… every kid should learn to play with fire.

I never did. And I'm thankful because 1. I'd probably hurt myself and 2. Wouldn't know what to do. Oh, number 3 would be me crying after the fire burned whatever down.

I loved playing with fire, and I even burned my face because of it, I loved the mark it made, it looked like a drop of water 💧 right below my eye, luckily it It's not there anymore, I wouldn't have liked to live with it forever but it was still cool

Yeah I lit paper and stuff like that on fire I also did the spray bottle and lighter I also lit some stuff on fire and set in to float in a lake I melted metal a few times in I remember I Would go under the porch set small rocks around on dirt in a circle light some paper on fire we had vines by my house so I would take a few wrap them around eachother light them with the fire I already made and swing it around.

Yeah I did , I pretty much tried to see what burned and what doesn’t and was surprised at some things that burned really good like sugar, wd-40 , steel wool and some plastics
