I was 9 when I helped my aunt on her toiletries stall in the market. I use to get fed up doing nothing on the weekends, so my dad thought it a good idea... I started at 6 am until 3pm when the market finished on Saturdays. I did auctioneering too.

Went round washing cars in my early teens until when I was 13 I got a job fixing cars.

I left school at 15 and was still paid cash until my 16th Birthday when I was put on the books officially in an Electrical Retailers.

I've never been out of work for a single day.

Do you mean salary as opposed to hourly wage? I was close to 40. I'll never do it again either, unless I can be assured there is no overtime.

If you just mean any kind of paid job, then I think I was about 11 when I got a paper route. Although I did things to earn money before that. I think I was 16-17 the first hourly job I had.

It was like $320. I worked at the school so max hours allowed was 21 per week. We didn’t have state taxes taken out since I guess we were students working at the school? Either way it was an interesting experience. Would never work in the food industry ever again in life. especially since my work was the hospital of the college with the music and basketball team.

I was 16. Some people on here are old enough to remember Fotomat. The little stores in the supermarket parking lots. It was a place to drop off your film from your camera to be developed and your photos were ready the next day.

I was a Fotomate.

I just Googled it and there are pictures of the little stores as they were in the 70's when life was so much easier and normal.
