What does it mean when a girl blushes when you call her 'pretty' or 'beautiful?'

A bit of a silly question, I know, but should I take this as a sign that she has a crush or not? The first time she she also stared at the floor and said 'you're so sweet...' if that's worth anything. Since then she has just gone red, lol.

Is it likely that she was just embarrassed and that I shouldn't look in to it?

Okay, it's very hard to tell if she likes you based on this BECAUSE she is first of all shy, there are quite a few SHY people who dislike complements greatly. I know it's sort of counter intuitive to think that a girl does not want to be called pretty. All I'm saying is that I am shy and I know very shy people, some of the shy people I know of have a very difficult time receiving complements. For this reason it's hard for me to say that she blushed because she likes you, I would tend to say it's due to some shyness.

Thanks for an honest and thoughtful answer. She is a bit shy, but I don't ever really feel like I make her uncomfortable, so hopefully I haven't in these situations.

Its possible she's embarassed. How does she take other compliments that don't relate to her looks? I know I get embarrassed when people compliment me because I feel awkward and before anyone says it I know I should just say thanks but its the way I am

Hm. She's not super confident so I think that she doesn't really quite believe other compliments, but she doesn't get embarrassed about them. Just listens quietly and is very humble about it.

I would be the same in relation to compliments, I generally just laugh them off or bizarrely say something scarcastic. Its got nothing to do with confidence I just don't place too much emphasis on them as afterall a compliment is just one persons opinion, maybe she's the same

It kinda depends on what your relationship with this girl is like. Have you asked this girl out yet? If you keep hitting her with comments like that but never make a move, its gonna go from "sweet" to "creepy" hella fast.

It sounds like she received it well the first time, and 'your so sweet' was an invitation to ask her out. I think that she just blushes now because people naturally blush when flattered, but she is probably also wondering why you are throwing these comments at her and not following through. Just do it man.

Thanks for the advice, man. We hugged and stuff the other times, it wasn't creepy, but I understand what you're getting at and it makes sense. I'm pretty good friends with her brother is the reason I'm a bit worried about misinterpeting and making a move when I shouldn't, lol. Thinks would get awkward real fast!

Either she has a crush or she just blushes when she get's complimented. This is a hard case.
