Do guys care if you have braces?

What do guys think about braces, does it affect how they see you? Are they a turn-off? I have them, and I'm wondering whether guys think they're unattractive...

And also, I knew a guy from before I got them. We started texting and he seemed interested. I recently met up with him (last week), but he didn't bring them up, but... I don't know I haven't talked to him for a week...

Honestly, that's one of the few things that I don't care about at all. Usually I am picky about things that women are typically self-conscious about, but braces are a total exception. I actually think they are cute. And when I was younger, I also thought they looked cool! I secretly wanted braces, even though now I'm pretty sure they're a huge pain in the ass.

The only problem with girls that have braces is that they are afraid to smile! So sad! Just don't be embarrassed about them! I know a really cute girl that has an amazing smile, but she neeeever smiles, and I'm sure it's because she has braces. Such a shame!

Also, at your age, especially for girls, I think it's cute/ cool/ fun to put different colors depending on the season. Like black and orange around Halloween or red and green around Christmas. That is, if that's your type of personality. If you're too cool for that, no problem. Lol. Around my age, it's probably too old for that kind of stuff, but I use to love to see that in high school. Girls that do that kind of stuff give off a vibe of being nice and easier to talk to, making them more approachable.

Just don't try to hide your braces. Own it. Don't be afraid to smile. And you won't get any less attention from guys.

A smart guy will realize that the outcome of having braces (a straight, pretty smile) is definitely worth the minor inconvenience of how they may look in the short term. Seeing someone with braces who you're not used to seeing with braces is different and may be considered unattractive by some, but once you see that person again you probably don't even notice. If you're interested in the guy you were texting with, try to be around him a little more and he will probably not even notice the braces after a short while. Cheers and good luck.

haha, OK thanks... the thing is my teeth weren't that bad to begin with, the braces were mainly to fix the bite... how can I tell if he minds them or not though?

If you're bold enough you could always ask. Though many would be embarrassed to do this.

If you see him soon watch his body language. Does he hold eye contact or is he constantly looking away? Does he mention something about himself that he is insecure with? If so, you have a perfect opening to talk about your braces (even if you aren't insecure with them) and see how he reacts to that.

Communication will be the big key to figuring out how he feels about your braces.

Let's say guys do not like that you have braces, would you remove them? Of course not. I am sure your parents paid good money for you to have a beautiful smile one day. Do you really want to date a guy who can not see past something as silly as braces. A guy like that is an immature, superficial jerk, who will find fault with other things that make you imperfect. And everyone on the plant has physical features that make them imperfect. (Except the middle Jonas Brother and Ken Jeong, they are super perfect) But other then them two. Everyone has something to work on. So love yourself more and be more secure with the way you luck. The thing you want to make sure you do is to smile just as much as before you got your braces, because smiling does make a difference in how you're perceived. Braces not really.

Nah, braces are cool. It's not like they're forever and it tells me you/your family cares about your health (cuz you clearly want healthy teeth). Definitely a good thing.

If the guy wants to hook up it might be an insignificant problem but if he is actually interested in you he should understand that your braces are not permanent and so should not be a deciding factor.

We really don't care. If the girl is beautiful, it doesn't matter. After all, braces will be worn off over time.

I think they are not a problem but sometimes it could be the bad breath..(no disrespect ) that they can cause. I had some friends and it caused them to have funky breath.

I didn't think I would care but I kissed a girl with braces not too long ago and I could feel them with my tongue and teeth which felt a little...odd.

but other than that it's not a bid deal.
