What does it mean when your ex tells you: "You and I will always be unfinished business"?

My ex told me this the other day, and I keep wondering what does it mean.

It means she watches wayyy toooo many movies, from where she gets this line from... (That there will always be a spark between the 2 of you) kind of like "where there was once fire, ashes remain" another corny line...

Which implies that she is also retarded.. meaning, that when you move on she'll be there to tempt you to cheat on your new girl with her, or that there will be some kind of feeling between the two of you, which is not fair to your new partner, and which I personally find childish and trampish...

If you choose to move on, then move on completely and be loyal to your new partner, irrelevant to to the childish antics your ex plays or stupid words she says. A bright person wouldn't take this into consideration, unless you want to try something with that same person again, otherwise ignore it and do move on.

I think it means, "we will never work out." It is her way of saying there will be no closure, it's over. It is kind of like what I have had a couple of men say to me: "It's not you, it's me." I think that most people are uncomfortable ending relationships but it is especially difficult if the person doing the break up is not a complete schmuck and realizes that the other person is a good person, but is just not "the one" for them for some reason. Decent people do not want to break another person's heart, so rather than being callous about it, they try to figure out a way to do it without just coming across as the "bad guy" or the "bad girl" in the situation.

My ex said the same thing to me and he meant that we aren't together anymore but we have stuff between us which isn't finished that could be anything but I think that is what it means

or they are still pining over you. and hiding behind needing to finish business as a way of getting you back but appearing matter of fact and not a blobb of jelly.

Perhaps one or the other hasn't fully explained or made their feelings made about the break up.
