What does it mean when a guy compliments you on your haircut?

I've been friends with this guy for several months and he's very shy. I recently got bangs. We had class together the day after I got my hair cut, but he didn't say anything about it. We went to the theme park the next night together and still he didn't say anything. A day after we had hung out he texted me and was being friendlier than usual and he later texted me that he really liked my haircut a lot. He's never really complimented me before I don't think and I wasn't expecting it at all. I didn't think guys really noticed those kinds of things? I told him that he was really the only one that noticed and he said that he was glad he was the one that did. Is he just being a nice friend? What do you think?

I'd have said he was just being nice, but his saying he was "glad he was the one" who noticed your haircut may mean he's being more than just nice.

For what it's worth, I do notice when women get their hair cut, especially if it's an actual change in style and not just a trim., and I notice it even in co workers and acquaintances that I'm not all that close with. But maybe I'm an exception to the rule.

I think you're over-thinking it. Maybe he does like you, but I wouldn't itnerpret this as a sign.

Um, I think it probably just means he liked your haircut.

Boys notice a lot more than you think. Boys have noticed when I've gotten haircuts, color change, polish change, did my eyebrows, etc.
