The Meaning of Love, and Why We All Need It

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. (Romans 13: 8) Love cuts across every human relationship.

Lack of love can lead to several societal problems. For any individual, family, society, nation to develop, love is needed. Love means consideration for others, exhibiting courage, faith, patient, peace, kindness, respect, hope, trust, and justice. The practical element of love is transforming the beautiful feelings we have inside of us into action so that others can feel it as well.

The world needs our contribution no matter how little it is. Sometimes, I see life like a puzzle which

every part must fall into place before it can really make a meaning. In a bigger picture, everybody has a role to play, the little person is as important as the big person because as little as he is, he fits into a picture. Nothing is accomplished without understanding, teamwork, and love. An example of how God expects us to function is this: there are different talents, doctors, nurses, engineers, cleaners, Governors, etc.

The engineers make the cars and construct the roads, for the nurses to drive on, while the doctors and the nurses provide health services for the engineers and other professions, the cleaners clean the houses and offices for doctors, nurses, engineers, and the rest. So there is a connection between one profession and the other and in this assembly, even the tiny link is as important as

the strongest link. We need each other for our development.

Whatever position we find ourselves in, our success is linked to someone else. A good example is during elections, a President of a country won’t emerge without the support of the citizens. The best students were once groomed and nurtured by a teacher. Someone somewhere has to be there to provide that link for our further growth.

So there is something we have that others need, and there is something we need that others have. This form of relationship gives us the opportunity to give, share and learn. In the Journey of life, other people play a part in our success by providing inspiration, incentive etc. Our accomplishment and happiness is tangled to each other, we get a heavenly congratulations each time we give genuine assistance to others.
