I want to make this clear once and for all:

It's bullshit!

NO, we don't want your money! BUT we also do not want a lazy bum, who is unemployed, unambitious, has no perspective and doesn't know what to do with his life either and doesn't do anything to improve his situation.

It truly sickens me a lot to see how men genuinely believe, that they need money in order to impress women. I mean they are right if they want gold diggers, who are out there to use their money but the reality is if men don't have the money to get together with these gold diggers in the first place, then they can't get into that kind of a fake relationship to begin with.

There is only you to blame if you manage to catch a gold digger. Check yourself thoroughly and take responsibility in who you are choosing as your partner.

We women can work and study and make our own money and buy our own things! We want the things from you, that doesn't have to be spending money on us. These are your respect, your kindness to everyone, your aspirations, your support, loyalty, your dedication and commitment to us, your time and a listener and being treated nice like a lady. And that's it!

If we are independent women, then we couldn't really care any less about the stinking money! Money doesn't woo me.

So please don't lob us all into one bunch just because you are embittered or had a terrible experience with a girl. I know it sucks but we definitely don't think higher of you by you prejudicing us as money hungry leeches. Consider this a favor done to you because I believe in helping others resulting in helping ourselves as a whole.

Yes! I'm tired of men saying it's us who's obsessed with money when it's really them who are. For example, they have made paying for a simple date into such a big deal cause to them if feels like they are being robbed of everything they have. I Think this irrational thinking comes from their fear and anger due to out of control feminist and feminism, without thinking they have all lobbed us together as one and blaming every single woman for it. Well every single woman isn't a feminist or a gold digger, I'm neither of these things cause if I were I wouldn't have gotten into a relationship with a man who worked at Wal-Mart and had a car that broke down on our first date. I just realized, that this whole "women are gold diggers" concept was imposed by the men judging from the comments of it. I didn't see such a hatestorm on here before regarding this topic, that lady frost was talking about. It became a seemingly sensitive topic.

Sometimes you just can't win and as such there is no right or wrong way of living. You do what is most comfortable for you.
For me this has been truly an eye opener.
I mean sure, while there are disgusting gold diggers there are also many good women out there (or so I believe). But what I am observing is how boys try to deconstruct the authors mytake despite her saying in seemingly full confidence, that she doesn't want our money WHILE quite some women here also agree with her.

When I think of guys who say "girls only care about your money", I think of Anna Karenina. In the novel, Anna has a husband who provides for her every material need, and is logically a "good provider". But she despises him, is disgusted by the fact he uses his resources to indirectly control her, and resenting him for not satisfying her emotionally. She then has an affair with a man who doesn't provide financially, but rather, satisfies her emotional needs, and makes her feel like a woman. Tolstoy understood the nuances of women's psychology; Anna Karenina wasn't a particularly likeable character, and the way he portrayed her inner dialogue, she comes across like she's just rationalising her choices to lie and cheat. You can't help but feel bad for the husband, because in logical terms, he's the "perfect provider" and a stable husband. In the end, it's Anna who meets with a tragic end, and if I recall the husband turns out just fine, and even made peace with his wife's choices. But he also realises it was his own nature that, at least in part, drove her away, and that's not an easy truth to bare.

The point I took from all this was that a man's resources and good intentions won't save him if he has a boring, asexual personality. And that a woman will risk poverty, abandonment, and exile from her community... if she has enough incentive, in the form of a man who satisfies her emotional and sexual needs to the fullest.

A dance class once or twice a month, a weekend trip when you can afford to go out of town together, or just a long stroll in the park. A little creativity can go a long way. But yeah, Anna Karenina should not be a role model for women to aspire to lol, she basically goes insane and kills herself by the end of the novel. Eh I just don’t think that’s true though. At least not for myself or anyone in my social group. I’m financially independent, I have been since I was 17 and left home and over the years built up enough to be comfortable.
But if I was dating again and had a choice over an amazing guy with a good job and an amazing guy who didn’t have a job I’m always going to go the successful one. Money matters, and just because I have my own doesn’t mean I’m going to lower my lifestyle to match his - and that’s basically what I’d have to do unless I wanted to pay for 100% of what I’d like us to do and have as a couple.
It’s not even just the financial aspect - a man who has the ambition for himself to want more than scraping through life is attractive. I don’t need him to pay my way, but I do want him to pay his own and quite frankly unemployed men can’t do that.
There is definitely a lot of focus on men believing all women want from them is their money and I fully believe that the reality is far different in that aspect - it’s generally an excuse used for why they’re single and it’s completely in men’s control to change that.
But while I don’t want his money; I want him to have the qualities it took to get it and the lifestyle that the money provides him with because it matches my own. You can’t really have those without the biproduct of financial success

I think intelligence is the main factor here for both men and women.

Beautiful women tend to be beautiful because they are healthy, and built a environment that gave them less stress. I've noticed beautiful women tend to be less ignorant and are willing to work for their own health. Fat girls tend to be ignorant and refuse to change their bad habits.

Rich men tend to be considered attractive because it takes brains to get the income most of the time. It's also associated with success which you mentioned, success requires a intellectual feat.

But in the end, I think the genders preferences are just because we look for a method of having a family with the considered lover. For example, men want a beautiful healthy women cuz she would have high chances of giving birth to healthy beautiful children. Well, you SAY that, but...

If I were to look at my own relationships, and those of my close friends (where I have enough information on the subject), this is what I see:

It's TRUE that nearly all the women had their own jobs, paid their share of the rent and bills and groceries, etc. And very few of the women were the kind who were constantly asking for money.

But it's also true that in almost every instance, anytime they did anything together, the man paid for everything or nearly everything - and that includes him driving and paying for gas. The couple went to the movies? He paid. A restaurant? He paid. An amusement park? He paid. Etc.

And, most of the women had no savings, so when their cars broke down or their pet got injured or any unexpected expense happened, they turned to the guy to cover their shortfall - and rarely was that money paid back (despite nearly 100% of the time being assured that it would be).

So, at least in my own personal observations, there's still a significant reliance of women on men for money. It may not LOOK like "money" most of the time, in that he isn't handing her cash - but his money is still spent on her far, FAR more often than the other way around.

I'm not saying this because I'm upset about it - I'm perfectly capable of communicating to the women I date - but it's not QUITE fair to say that women don't use men for money when this stuff is still so common.

And, yes, I know that not all women do this, and that some men are bastards and sponge off of their women - but on AVERAGE, what I described seems to be pretty common - and yet if you asked those women, they would say that in their minds, they don't take/need/want his money and that "he WANTS to pay" or whatever to justify that situation - and spend her own money on new shoes or a new outfit or whatever.

I think this take is not bad. Except for the gold-diggers (who aren't very few between us), most of us don't want men "just" for their money. That's true.

As -taleswapper said it, most successful women marry up. As someone who's grown up between well off women, I can definitely confirm that most well off/successful women don't marry regular guys. It happens very rarely. Wealthy men marry regular girls more often.

The wealthier and more successful (thus more financially independent) a woman is, there's more chance she'll consider your wealth and status before she marries you.

They realized that the symmetry of facial structure really correlates with attraction. The most attracted individuals were then given a second test to measure how social factors impact their attractiveness. Oh absolutely, the issue isn't that it exists, its that we do not, at least not any more, do anything to keep it in check. I mean we shame guys who cheat on their wives even though biologically men have stronger sex drives, its a negative trait of masculinity, or our tendency to want to move up in social status so we discourage violence as a means to do it because if we allow it to go unchecked we will get to that point. It took one entire year for my sister to convince my parents to get married with my brother-in-law. My parents and relatives heavily opposed their relationship and they even spread false rumors about him so that my sister does not marry him. But they did get married... My niece's birthday is tomorrow and she turns 4! She's such a bundle of joy.

Of course women don't want men's money, they want everything that the mans money can buy. We know that, in fact you admitted to it. Why do women want a man who is employed? Raising children costs money and since the singular (from a biological standpoint) of a relationship is to produce offspring, you need to make sure he has the resources to do so (as again, you are going to be less capable of acquiring them due to pregnancy and child rearing). I have no problem with women wanting a man with some resources at his disposal just as I have no problem with a man wanting a beautiful girl. Its only an issue when one, it gets to the point where that is all that matters because then you are objectifying and using that person, and two when people (and this is predominantly women) don't admit to these desires. Its okay to have them, its not okay to be consumed by them, no different then anything else in your life. You can love junk food, nothing wrong with that, but eating until morbidly obese is a problem, its the same things as with this. Balance is key.

The reason men think this way is based on their experiences with women, especially those of us who got rejected when we earned an average paycheck but then once we started earning more all of a sudden women were brown-nosing.

For a similar reason men think this way about "bad boys"/"assholes" vs. "nice guys". A woman will date a nice guy, tell him he's too nice, date a bad boy while complaining to the nice guy, get dumped or cheated on, complain that she only wants a nice guy, tell the nice guy that she wants a guy just like him while keeping him in the friend-zone, go date a bad boy and repeat. Nice guy comes online, women say it doesn't happen, "just keep on being a nice guy a woman will like you eventually". He keeps doing the above, it never works. He starts acting like an asshole to see if it works, often it does.

You can say you want this, you don't want that etc. All you like. But men who are smart pay more attention to your actions than your words.

Based on what I've seen over many years, whenever a "strong independent woman" gets divorced, she is more than happy to take her ex husbands financial assets. And look at some of these rich old men. Have a read at the comments on here from women. Some of them admit that they have female friends who seek men mostly for money. That's so good to hear. Unfortunately it is true, that there are gold diggers out there. This type of question was likely a materialistic person, who admitted, that she is after the money and if your worth defined by you is not your wealth, then it simply becomes a mismatch between you and this person. In fact I believe you would avoid these kinds of persons even before getting into a relationship with them.
