My boyfriend hasn't contacted me in 2 days after an argument. Should I text him or continue to wait for him to contact me?

So my boyfriend and I had an argument Friday night. I over reacted, which ended up with him saying that he was done for the night. I apologized and said I'll leave him alone and let him talk to me again when he wants, then said goodnight and that I love him. His last text was "You guessed right. I love you too. Good night." It's been 2 days now and I still haven't heard from him. I really miss him and I want to apologize again and explain why I over reacted and make it up to him.
Should I text him or continue to wait? I was thinking of waiting one more day before texting, but I keep telling myself that it's best to just continue to give him space and let him talk when he's ready, which is probably best.
Guys, how long does it usually take for you to text your girlfriend again after an argument? Is it best she texts you or would you rather she gives you time?

Everyone is different. Overreaction is a huge turn off so he may be extra pissed. Me personally I like my space and hate to be smothered. You can probably shoot him a feeler text to see if he's OK and if he is open to talk, if he says yes sometimes you can ease the tension with a peace offering. Example:bring chocolate if he enjoys it. Cookies is the way to ease tensions with me.
