During my PG studies in country PQR, I met an introverted girl who shared my interests in romantic KDramas and nerdy games. On her birthday, she surprised me with a jumbo pizza. I wished her a happy birthday & revealed my own birthdate. In return, I gifted her chocolates that coincidentally were her favourite flavour, the same kind she had gifted her mother last. She was thrilled & even shared the convo of her bestie with me. During a hiking trip with a mutual friend, I invited her but she declined as she didn't know that mutual friend all too well but she promised to go hiking with me sometime in the near future. Over the next few weeks, whenever, I asked to hang out with her, she would say that she was keeping busy with her studies. So, we eventually lost touch&I moved to the EU, the next year.
During that year, I recalled her birthday & she was surprised. We resumed talking & watched her favourite shows together online. She said that she'd patched up with her ex at his request despite breaking up with him 2 years ago. She still spent her time with me & promised to visit me (in a different country) once she found a job.
Before my Christmas vacation began, she said that her boyfriend was visiting her for a month. When I was revisiting that country PQR, she initially wanted to meet but claimed to have contracted a severe cough, the day before. My frnd & I made herbal cough drops for her but she canceled our meeting, saying her health had worsened. I was aware that her boyfriend would depart from there a day after Christmas & that very day, she texted me, claiming to have fully recovered, revealing her lie. My bff advised me to distance myself from her & so, I did, after citing a busy schedule in the next year.
After approx 6 months, our mutual friend said she asked about me & that she hasn't heard back from me since last year. Why does she want to contact me now? couldn't she instead send a message on her own? If she texts, how should I respond? Advice needed!
