Why is a guy suddenly interested in me?

He is considered to be one of the "popular" boys in my grade. He knows I don't like him and we never talked to each other unless forced. We knew eachother for about 6 months. 4 days ago he became suddenly really interested in me. I was sitting in the hallway decorating my friends locker and he sees me, sits down next to me, takes my phone, and asks me what my pass is so he can put in his phone number. I rejected the offer. In Spanish he puts his book on my desk and starts reading it until I have to tell him to move. With just my luck, he was placed in my group for science. He doesn't let my other friend sit next to me (She's a girl) because he always sits next to me. He throws small paper balls at me, goes through my things, punched me in the elbow (Total fail), likes to step on my feet and block my path, once he tried to cut my hair!! He has no sense of personal space either! He litterelly always touching me. When he was was throwing paper balls some got in my hair and I couldn't get them out and he tried touching my hair but I refused so he called one of his friends (It was a girl) over to get it out for me then threw it back at me. Then on Friday , he began asking me who I liked and began getting all personal. Randomly in class, he begins groaning in my ear making it super akaward. Is that freaking normal? He's so annoying and won't leave me alone. Very rarely we talk like friends in a mature matter. Why is he acting this way?
