525 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Seen this quote before, sounds like a confused person. And it's more dumb than ironic to me.. ignoring those who adore us happens because sometimes you can't tell or you don't like them the same way, so that parts fine. Adore those who ignore us is dumb to me.. I'm not for chasing after someone who's clearly indicated no interest, though I understand that sometimes you can't control who you like. The last two bits are totally silly. Don't hurt people in general, and loving someone who hurts you sounds like Stockholm Syndrome. It's a highly romanticized quote that seeks to brush off the irrationality of what we feel sometimes when we think we're in love with someone.

+1 yI think it feels that way if you are in love with the wrong person but if the right guy/girl comes along you won't ignore them and will want them. When my boyfriend came into my life I knew immediately he was the one for me and vica versa. There weren't any ignoring of any kind. It just worked. I do believe that real true love will just work with no complications.

There is a kind of "challenge" to be loved by someone who wasn't attracted by us at first, it's like if you desirved the love by what you've done to seduce the other.
The ones who hurt us are the one we love because we are hurt by people who we have a significant part in our life. That's somehow sad but here goes the world...00 Reply

+1 yin the 1920's this one scientist did a study with monkeys. It proved that when you are abused and thrown away. You crave to have their attention more than from people who don't hut you.

I'm not sure it's irony.
Ignoring those that adore us, is in it self a false sense of security, like having unchecked mechanics of a new car, just because it's new doesn't mean it doesn't wear out, same with adoration. Adoring someone that ignores us is about insecurity, we want what we can't have such as celebrities. Hurt those that love us, is more about taking things personal due to emotional connection. Not sure about loving someone that hurts us, maybe wishing the loved one doesn't hurt us is more like it otherwise we maybe toxic or have unfulfilled needs from childhood.10 Reply
That might happen a lot but when to people are both on the same page it is an awesome thing to watch them grow in love together. Which is some what rare these days to see.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yActually I'm kind of creeped out by open adoration, I pretty much don't notice people who ignore me unless it's a bartender or someone working a customer counter or something like that. I never intentionally hurt people who love me but they have to understand that loving someone does not give them any obligation towards you. Love is a gift, not a remuneration. I don't love people who intentionally try to hurt me, i generally avoid them.
This sounds like an unhealthily insecure person.31 Reply
+1 ythis is too true for me right now unfortunately. I have guys in my life that are so good to me but i just dont "feel" it with, whatever that means. and the guys im interested in are assholes. It has to do with a clingy factor though. The guys that like me are borderline obsessive.

+1 yit's not really ironic, to me, because that happens all the time.
it just so happens that the attraction isn't there, and/or the timing is way off.10 Reply 1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. That may be true for some people, but not well adjusted healthy adults.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI guess we just hate rejection or to much attention with out a challenge
11 ReplyI don't have an opinion on this because I don't believe what is being said

Because I don't believe it's true I don't believe we ignore those who adore us and vice versa. One can make up sentences that sound brilliant but they're not true. So therefore I don't have an opinion on the irony of it all. If you asked me a question, "guys who wear blue suspenders get laid more often." I can't answer that because I don't think it's true.

+1 yI think it's ironic that the sarcastic and ironic archetype in media that was once so witty and original is now so common that the majority of the cast in most shows, films or games are witty and ironic.
