I think there's a better way to handle it. I've been cheated on and I didn't hit my ex, but I did yell at him a lot when I found out. Then I broke up with him and just carried on with my life, as hard as it was. He was purposefully trying to rub his new girlfriend (someone I thought was a good friend of mine) in my face for awhile after that, but I just acted like it didn't bother me at all anymore and I think that bothered him more than anything. It really hurt a lot and I wanted to just scream at both of them and get revenge, but I was trying really hard to do the right thing and be mature about it, and I knew that the worst thing for both of them was to think that I didn't care. I was only 17 1/2 at the time too, and going through a very rough phase in my life. Looking back, I'm very happy I handled it the way I did rather than the way I really wanted to.

You still got cheated on (the moment of getting betrayed will always in your memory) and it might even reaffirm their belief that maybe they had after all a reason to cheat.

No, of course not. Cheating is not a justifiable reason to resort to violence. I understand that being cheated on hurts but everyone should still be able to maintain the self-control to just walk away and end the relationship rather than physically hurting that person.

It takes a pretty weak man to hit a woman. The pay back for cheating is to break up with the person. You will not have the trust needed for a healthy relationship. Also, your man or woman being drunk does not get him/her off the hook. It's just an excuse for deplorable actions. If an adult can't control their drinking, it's all on them. A responsible adult does not get drunk to the point they lose control of themselves. Whatever they do is still their responsibility. They made a choice to sleep with another and there is no excuse for that. Like I said, it's a choice they make. All decisions have consequences whether good or bad. When you make a decision, you are saying you know the possible consequences and you accept them. If a man hits a woman, he is lower than a worm.
