I lied to my boyfriend about my age. Now what?

Ok so we started dating two months back. Things are very good between us. I am 30 and he is 26. He always knew I was elder to him. Anyway, when we met he asked me if I was 1989 born ( he is 1991) . I don’t know why I said 1988 instead of 1987 ( which is the truth) . Now I am kicking myself for this absolutely stupid lie. I don’t know how to confess. I ended up lying because I was so uncomfortable in the first place about dating a younger guy.

Just sit him down and come clean. Explain why you lied and that your sorry you did. Tell him you know it's stupid. Just be truthful about it and you'll be fine. He'll appreciate you that much more.

And if he flips out and leaves you or gets pissy, then you probably don't want to be with a guy like that in the first place

A one year difference would not be that big of a deal to me personally. He might end up more upset if you try to hide it though. So if you see yourself staying with him I think you should just tell him.

One year won't change anything, you are who you are and age is just a number. Honestly just tell him you felt really insecure about dating someone younger. The longer you drag it out the worse it will be, if he's a nice enough person he should understand we all have our insecurities and in the moment you made a mistake.

Just come clean. Let him know that you realize you messed up and the lie has been eating you up inside. Also let him know why you lied- that you felt uncomfortable and insecure and that led you astray. Hopefully he will understand and be forgiving.

If you were a 13 year old posing as a 17 or 18 year old, and believe me im glad you're not, i can't see a problem. it may cause some tension. But if you two have a really good intimacy relationship then all should be well.
