Guys, why do you cheat on your girlfriend's with less attractive women?

I found out my boyfriend of two years cheated on me with an unattractive girl and blamed me for it saying I made him feel insecure and he knows that guys constantly hit on me and my male friends have crushes on me that's why they're around me. He also said he feels like he's nothing around me. He's a really good looking guy that's smart, funny, and caring. The girl he cheated on me with is a bit overweight, not the most attractive face and seems low class. I have been nothing but a good and supportive girlfriend and I am so dedicated to him and his needs, it just feels like a blow to me and my self-esteem. He blames me for making him cheat. Why do men do this to their loyal gf's?

He blames you for cheating he did because he's jealous that other guys like you. That's warped. He got some serious self-doubts and insecurity issues. He wants to show you he can get someone else if you cheat on him because he is afraid you will. I thought about doing that to a gal once who had hurt me but then I said to myself that would hurt her so I push the thought of it away. He hasn't reached the maturity needed to do that and to talk with you about his jealousy and trust issues so he cheated on you instead to make sure he cheated on you before you cheat on him which he expects you are going to do. He didn't cheat with a hottie but with someone you perceive as not a real threat to your relationship with him (he cheated doesn't want to lose you), I think supports my interpretation.
