One of them have to change themselves but if it’s not possible to create that big change then you both should try taking small steps.
Think it like you two are standing apart and if you two have same thoughts that this long distance is impossible to travel then it’s better that you both walk a bit towards yourself... try to think what he does that you don’t and he needs to know what you do and he doesn’t...
