He shouted at me and made me cry on my birthday. Is this wrong of him?

I had my 23rd birthday today and my boyfriend made me cry.

He is 18 and I have known him for 2 years. We have been dating for couple of months now.

Anyways this morning my ex sent me a texting wishing me a happy birthday. I responded and I told my boyfriend. He said "that was nice" and I said "I know I am suprised her remembered"

Anyways after that my boyfriend seemed fine. He visited me at work and gave me a kiss. We were talking throughout the day.

Then I received flowers anonymously at work. My ex sends them anonymously. That's when my bf's mood shifted.

That night after dinner with my friends it slipped out how he didn't like how I am close with my exes family. I told him I wanted to meet him and he denied me. I begged him and told him I didn't want my ex to come in the way of us. He said "you are making him"

Anyways we met. We talked about it all and at the end he told me how he hates that I am friends with my exes family. I told him that it just happened cause we were together for so long. So he sorta yelled "why am I here then? If you can't see this" and I began to cry. I told him I wanted him gone from my life.

He apologized and gave me a kiss.

Is this wrong of him?

I can understand why your boyfriend is angry. However, I feel he is barking up the wrong tree. If he wants to shout at anyone, he should be shouting at your ex instead. You didn't ask your ex to give you flowers, he did it on his own initiative and it is his right. He can send flowers to anyone he wants.
If your boyfriend don't like your ex sending you any gifts, you can convey the message to your ex and tell him to stop. There is no need for your boyfriend to shout at you like that, especially on your birthday. It is just a gift.
If your boyfriend can't accept any guys sending you gifts, being friendly/cordial to you, then he is being very immature and childish. You should not be shedding any tears for him, should have just tell him to grow up and left.

I dont think this was wrong of him. Put yourself in his shoes. It would be so awakward tor him to spend time with ur exs family. And he might not be completely confident in this relationship yet. His jealousy and insecurity about your ex made him yell at you. Don’t fret it, just make sure you’re not making him uncomfortable. You’re older, so I’m guessing your ex is probably older than him too, so that might be a factor in his insecurity, because he might feel intimidated

That brings me to my next advice I wanted. We are now broken up but I am reflecting.

So about 2 weeks ago I get a call in the middle of the night fro my then boyfriend telling me how he told his family about us and they want us to split

We talked it out and decided to take a break

However we still talked everyday, kissed, and even talked about getting married one day

During these 2 weeks I made him block this female friend who was liking his posts after it caused a huge argument with us. And I told him how people think I flirt with the new guy at work. He saw we snapped eachother but it was for work.

Anyways a week after that we had a huge fight over something else and he lost it and called me some mean names. Abusive. So I ended it completely.

Within a week after that I got with my co worker. I told my ex cause he kept bothering me and he told me I am a cheater.

Yeah, there's def something not right or he has some underlying issues that are making him insecure and untrusting of you.
