Well, not necessarily, but I can speak for myself that I actually am attracted to a girl, who is in some instances the direct opposite of me. For example me being a very emotional person with a very high level of empathy, while she is thinking completely logical (We even had a long conversation about emotions and feelings cause it's a concept she can't quite understand). There also the difference of me always talking about pretty much anything that happened to me or what I am thinking, whilst she, on a good day, reveals one tiny piece of her life without any detail (like that she went shopping today). There are so many other examples, but I also have to say, that we aren't "the opposites of each other" cause we got a lot in common aswell, so I would say that a huge bit of contrast can be damn attractive and interesting to some (obviously talking about me here) but having nothing in common... I really can't see that there would be any connection between those two people and therefore no attraction 🤷🏼♂️
All humans are some what dysfunctional people so we attract those who seem to correlate with our dysfunction. For example If you were abused as a child verbally. You will end up with someone who came from same home lifestyle so they will understand you.
it is according to what is meant by opposites? my parents were opposite in looks and interests but they still married and had 6 children so yes , opposites do attract too ! my sister married some one who was just her opposite in looks and they had 4 children together too ! I am attracted to my opposite in looks and he is interested in me as well ! he is dark haired , dark eyed and dark skin and I am light skinned and have light colored eyes ! so opposites do attract opposites ! In some circumstances, yes. But it's hard to find common interests in those relationships, been there done that.

It's complete bullshit. When have you ever heard an attractive successful women say hey I love ugly losers who can't get a job.
It seems so in the beginning. But eventually there will need to be shared values to last.
