How do I recover after my girlfriend left me for my older brother?

Hey guys, I really need help now. See, I lost my job 3 months ago, so I went job hunting. While I was having employment and financial issues, my girlfriend (now ex) slowly got cold towards me and eventually started seeing my older brother.

We were in a 3-year relationship, and despite struggling in this problem, I see to it that I remember every occasion we have whether it's monthsaries, birthdays, or any other celebration. We used to hang out at malls to go window shopping, eat at fast-foods, or grab drinks at the pub. Unfortunately at our 3rd yr anniversary, I only made lunch at my house since I was having financial problems (we don't normally do this during our anniversary). Throughout our date, she was glued to her phone the entire time and eventually, she wanted to break up as she revealed that she's been seeing my brother ever since I lost my job.

Her reason was because I was too focused on job hunting and that she didn't feel as if my sacrifices we're sincere. She also said that the relationship wasn't gonna last anyways since I'm currently unemployed and broke until now, which was why she moved in with my brother who's able to provide for her and is now sleeping with him.

Is there anyway to stop crying over this heartbreak?

You need to understand that your worth isn’t determined by your success or a cheating ex girlfriend. You know the reasons why you “slacked off” a bit in the relationship, but it was a good reason. You had your life to deal with. You hit a bump in the road. These things happen in life, everyone goes through troubles, but you need to realize that what she and your brother did, is not a reflection of your character. You didn’t do anything wrong. You didn’t make her cheat. She made the decision to cheat. She is shallow. She was after the money it seems. You don’t want a girlfriend like that. Any loyal, loving, considerate girlfriend would stay, support you, be by your side, and love you just the same. And any respectful brother wouldn’t hook up and date your girlfriend. Both are horrible, shallow, inconsiderate people. You deserve better. She showed her true colors and he showed his. You’ll find someone so much better.

Wow. As I was reading, at first I was considering that it may have really been about personality incompatability, and that was the root issue, not your brother's money. But by the time I finished reading... there's not much to say. If she didn't leave you for your lack of money, but said that was the reason... well then she's a heartless person for lying. If she did do it for this reason, she's a shallow bitch.

It might be time to get mad, instead of crying over these two selfish brats.

Your road to recovery is not going to be easy. But unfortunately, you'll have to do it without either of these two people in your life.

You have a shit brother, I would never touch a woman that been with any of my brothers that I am aware of. So no monkey branching within family allowed. There is so many women that you shouldn't compete with family.

That's a tough break unfortunately I think the loss of your brother would be a bigger loss than the loss of your girlfriend so if there's any way of salvaging that relationship you should probably give it a try.

ok well first of all your brother is an asshole for sleeping with your girlfriend esspecially while you guys were still dating. and it sounds like you becoming broke showed off her true colors. situations like this will show you how a person really is, they either help you get through the tough times and be there for you or they go sleep with your brother who has more money. a way to get over it is to come to a realization that she was just a bitch who was just seeing what she could get out of you and after she got what she needed, she moved right along.

I have a couple of suggestions for you. First, please know that eventually you will get over her even if you do nothing else at all. “Time heals all wounds” as they say. Next, the obvious: Have you considered seeing a counselor or therapist? That can shorten your healing process. Third, I strongly recommend that you do some reading if you don’t do anything else.
