I’m introverted and not good with group activities. I have a group outing coming up, my crush is going... I’m avoidant and afraid I’ll mess up? Any advice?

Practice is the only way to get over social anxiety, its a long road to get there, but shorter than you think.
Learn to be comfortable with who you are, because the people around you probably dont think you are as weird as you do. Most people dont remember the weird things you do or say. I've embarassed myself more than my fair share, and the people who were there to witness it are still happy to see me when we meet.
When you are responding or contributing to a conversation, take a pause to form what you want to say. Try not to just blurt things out. It doesn't always work out but it does work out more often than not.
Remember that you are a regular human being and you are infact acting like a normal person, the idea that you are being weird or embarassing yourself is 90% in your head. The remaining 10% is the weird things that everyone does and noone cares about it.
And if a moment comes where you do or say something that causes an awkward silence, addressing the awkward silence and turning it into a joke will usually turn the situation into a positive one and people will attribute a fun moment to you. Like: "what? why is everybody quiet? Dont fcking do this to me!"

Laugh with them, dont be to serious, and try your best not to worry.

Being a little socially awkward can be an endearing character trait, especially if there is an unusual thoughfulness and intelligence behind the screen.

And remember, if you were invited, its because they like you and want to see you.

As for this crush, just be genuine and natural (naturally you). If you're goal is a relationship with this person, then you can't hide who you are from them for long. So take a few deep breathes, watch your alcohol intake, and hang out and talk with them about common interests. And accept that you will have to make a move and express interest. "Hey, want to go grab a coffee sometime?"

Be kind, genuine, and approachable, but dont be a kissass.

I am an introvert too. When I am around pretty girls, I get really awkward, and embarrass myself.

I suggest you go out with your group of friends. When you are out, interact with your friends that you are conformable with. Focus yourself on them. If she says hi, be polite and respond. But continue back with your friends until you are feeling less nervous around her.
Then join any conversation they are having but not directly with her.

Once you are comfortable with that and able to gage what her interests are, then try talking to her. If you get nervous, have your friend around and bring them into the conversation and disengage. Take everything slow. Don't act desperate. You will be fine.

Don't think about the end result, and being afraid you're going to mess up. This is what will put pressure on yourself, and cause you to freak out and have anxiety.
It may be a bit difficult at first, but just try and be present in the moment without trying to be someone you're not.
Authenticity will almost always lead you to success, so just be yourself and try to relax!
Have fun on the group outing and if at first you need to give yourself time to feel comfortable around your crush, then take the time you need, but don't shy away from being in their presence.
Let go of any expectations. Enjoy the time that you can use to get to know them.
Just think, what's the worse that could happen? They become a friend of yours which isn't so bad at all! The best relationships are built on friendship.

I used to be really introverted, but how I would deal with social situations like that is I would basically do my best to come off as really nice, which is a easy way to go if you appear shy. This also works if your awkward too. If you mess up, don't get embarrassed or even more introverted, just laugh. Like honestly, that was my way out of a lot of messy situations that I made

Also, this is straight up corny and right out of the book, but be yourself and don't try to put on another persona because it weirds people out.

Talk to a doctor and try anti-anxiety pills. It helped me a lot. One of the biggest things that has helped me is not trying to hard.

What i mean is, if a conversation isn't interesting to me. I will literally say that this shit bores me. If I have literally anything to add, I'll say it before I think just to get it out. Tends to help

As an introvert, I have learned to not care what other people think and just to do my thing. If I am feeling uncomfortable at any point in a social situation, I acknowledge the feeling of discomfort and try to refocus myself.


Just be you. Don’t force yourself to be extroverted in a social situation if that is not who you are. It is also ok to leave when it becomes too much.
