Should I further pursue this connection with this guy or move on to someone else?

There’s a guy who I’ve known for a little while and takes the time to text me and occasionally call me to see how i’m doing. He takes a little while to respond and apologizes and says what he’s doing but it’s fine because i know he’s busy. He’s flirty and says I like him. however, I get the vibe that he may be flirting with other girls and told him “You like everyone” but he responded with “If I liked everyone, why would I be taking the time to get to know you and talk to you this late at night.” We had a deep talk about our life and really opened up to each other a few nights ago. however, he said he had to be honest and say that he doesn’t know if he’s fully looking for something because he’s focusing on his career and move to another city for three months to practice for his career and said that he’d have to see and let things play out if he wants to date someone. When he wanted to make plans to hang out, he asked if I even kissed anyone and said no but he said it completely changed the situation. Lately, we haven’t been talking so I’m giving him his space and so I can think about this.
He was honest about his intentions and told me and now i’m hesitant if I should let this situation play out or just move on before I get hurt trying to expect something out of this. We have a good connection but he seems inconsistent. I don’t want to get hurt and i’m in a position where i’m willing to give dating a try again. I know I’m overthinking but should I give up on this situation since he’s focusing on his career and move on to someone else?
