Girlfriend self harms sometimes what should I do?

My girlfriend self-harms occasionally, she's been improving but sometimes cuts just her finger, she says it doesn't bleed. I am just worried she will cut her legs open again as she has in the past. she's not wanting to self harm close to as much as she did when she started in our relationship, she still does it occasionally.

I really like her and only self harm bugs me, I have some past trauma with self harm after a family member was hospitalized because of it, I have gone to therapy over it. I am happy with her 90% of the time, should I do anything for my own well-being?

I love her and don't wanna cut things but at what point should I?

Unfortunately, there is not much that you can do for her unless you are a certified psychologist or psychiatrist.

People that self-harm themselves do it because their soul is hurt, most of the time following a personal trauma. It takes time and dedication to attempt to get to the bottom of the problem because, more often than not, people don't see or fail to admit that they have a deeply rooter psychological issue. It could go way back to childhood.

The only thing you can give her is to try to motivate her to seek help, to be understanding but above all, not to make her feel bad about self-harming herself. Good luck.

I understand WHY people who do that think it is a good idea.. So they can focus on the pain instead of what is causing the stress. THAT is the reason I have a punchbag.. so I can take my stresses out on the bag instead of myself.. Perhaps try and explain what I've just said and see if she can hit something instead of hurting herself.. Assure her It will feel SO much better.
