Does it mean something if a guy keeps a poem book that reminds him of his past self/past lovers?

Some poems are normal, but the ones he has marked in it are ones that I know remind him of an ex. I told him it makes me uncomfortable, but he doesn't seem to care. But maybe I'm overreacting.

He is familiar with pain, joy, love, loss, and has found a way to exercise it. He is free of his past but possesses a road atlas and markers.
