Is it safe to say that "dating sites" like Match & EHarmony are more hookup & fling sites than anything remotely close to legitimate dating?

So I have a profile. My photos are not revealing, not at pubs, etc. They show me doing a variety of decent things, etc. Like playing fetch with my German Shepherd dog

And yet the majority of men who contact me are obviously more after sex than they are after establishing a relationship. It's their rushing/push to meet, something they say, or something else that raises a red flag and when you follow up on that cue makes them unappealing.

Like for example this one guy. He asked me if I preferred to take things slow or "jump right into it". I responded slow... he responds with "you have to let me take you out to lunch Saturday". This was on Friday, we'd talked for a meager 1 day on the site.

I've even had men in entirely different states or provinces message me - I'm on the east coast of Canada & had people from British Columbia, Texas & Florida to name some - asking if I visit the area anytime. There's no pursuit to be a "penpal", and develop a rapport, just feeling out - by the way it's wording every time - if be interested in a hookup & go home.

Another thing is this… (I learned it quite early on, from joining certain sites at a young age). Those men (some of them) only join, knowing those women are looking for something, and they will be rude at times, knowing the women may be emotional, and they will more times than not, pretend, telling her what she wants to hear.

Many times they are also horny and unwilling to put in effort, and they believe the women are actively looking for only one particular thing, as well.

It’s easier to find someone on a gaming chat or people in real life because in the example of the game, they don’t know what you’re looking for, and will be GENUINE. In real life, they’ll be more respectful, and both scenarios produce opportunities to meet someone on a more compatible level (depending on where you met them; etc.).

You kind of “sell yourself,” when you join those apps.

The real hard working guys are the ones out working hard, and living life. The women should be doing the same, and meet each other on the actual ‘playing field.’

Online dating is just an annoying counterfeit, and to the susceptible, an illusion/ hallucination.

You will always find people want to hook up on these apps. Just ignore these people if that’s not what you want. Remember though, that some people want to make contact and meet up right away. That’s just what they prefer, to see if there’s chemistry. Again, if your not comfortable with this, say no.
I prefer to talk a while before meeting. Any pressure is a put off. If they don’t want to spend time chatting, then they can look elsewhere. Plenty of others to meet with lol

it's easier to find a hookup on there, as it is in real life. finding something meaningfull long term is difficult on these sites as it is in real life.
