Women with abusive men, are they salvageable?

My neighbors wife is stuck with this low life ass hole of a man and he does not work at all. He does not do any work around the house. No job, however they have 2 kids together. She does not have a driver's license so she is really dependant on him and I am starting to think he wants her to drive.

I often wonder women like this are they really worth the hassle when they stay with abusive men. Women in abusive relationships are very different from healthy ones and I wonder if these women can cope with a different kind of affection.

I’m so surprised that you can describe a woman who solely takes care of her entire household, then go on to ask if she’s worth the hassle, as if she’s the one requiring a new man willing to put in the excess patience/work. She’s not even on the market or in the position for you to use as an example of women on the dating scene post-abusive relationship, so I’m not sure why you’re referencing her in the first place.


If you want to ask what the mental condition of a woman who’s newly single after escaping domestic violence would be, then make that the question. In which case I’d say no, it is not your job to fix or “salvage” (which even that word is horrible to use, it sounds like you’re talking about a broken down vehicle) a person. Someone who just got done dealing with a violent ex should seek professional help getting through such a hard and vulnerable time, remaining single until they can healthily navigate something new, whether that’s a few weeks or a few months. Obviously the damage their ex did never entire goes away, but gradually it’s easier to cope and coexist with trauma, so that the next person isn’t left paying for what someone else did.

She got in love with someone else, you might not know their whole story? Or he was rotten from the beginning but very manipulative and charming. Women don't want to bring children into this world with men like that man...

Women want challenging men, confident, mentally strong men who can take some shit and still provide reliable support to them. Men who make them feel secure when they are insecure. Who takes initiative and not just in the bedroom 😂

Not assholes who turns out to be big babies and raises their hand because of it. And do not understand the simplest of things but makes a problem out of anything. I mean who wants that?

As you might realise my point is: You don't know what you get sometimes until it's very late and long gone. Abusers, psychopaths, narcissists, sociopaths are no joke hanging around in the long run. It becomes a sick and toxic relationship. Where the partner starts to take the blame for the other partners misdeeds and actions.

Nobody who has any self respect left takes that and agrees with it, without changing themselves really 😔
