Why do people think there has to be a dominate and submissive person?

I don’t resonate with this way of thinking. Why can’t you just be a man and a woman together whose differences compliment each other?

There is probably not a single mentally healthy individual who is 100% submissive or dominant in every interaction (yes - every single one). And there likewise probably is not a single functioning individual who is always neither.

Even if we look away from sex and such. Most relationships get structures like advisor and decision maker. Neither inherently better or worse. At the very core, most outcomes are influenced more by one than the other.

It really just depends on how strictly we view the degree of dominance and submission. Taken to the extreme there will almost always be some - but also never be total. If we assume a distinct division that is of course not needed, if perhaps normal.

Most normal people don't buy into that BDSM kink. It's a fetish that got blown out of proportion.

Because it's a primal need to be protected. It's the same with the height issue that people on here complain about. If I'm a cave woman and a dragon comes to town, I sure as hell don't want a submissive cave husband. I want a bad boy who can rip the dragon's head off and shit down it's neck. Then we'll have dragon stew. (minus the neck, of course)

My husband has the final say on things, but he seeks my advice or opinion on almost everything and usually asks me to make the decisions. We won't always agree and someone had to submit to the other.

I doubt many think there has to be one or the other. Some people do prefer being submissive or dominant and therefor seek their counterpart.
