My girlfriend of 7 years and I had a serious and honest talk about us and she suggested breakup. We weren't fighting or angry, it was calm and normal conversation. She said that from the beginning she knew that this was not "it" for her and that she will never make this mistake of waiting for things to get like she want them to be. This was not first time she talked about potential breakup, it happened throughout the whole relationship a few times. During this talk she sounded really honest and like she means it.
My main reason why I wanted a breakup and agreed with her about it is that she became verbally abusive in the last few months and started name calling me in fights (using words "stupid", "fool", "pathetic", "useless" one time, and it wasn't even a figtht). It didn't happened every day but it happened several times even after I told her to stop with it.
I was willing to forgive it all if she promised me that she will never ever insult me again, no matter what, but she just said that she can't promise it but will do "her best". I know that technically nothing is 100% in life, but this is a sign for me that she expects to slip an insult again - and that's a dealbreaker for me. I suggested that she could go to a therapy, but she wasn't really interested and said she thinks she does not need it.
So we broke up, but still are in contact. She basically love bombs me, says how she loves me and that she does not want to breakup. I am sticking to my decision because of the things I explained above, but it is so weird to me how could someone change their opinion on something like that so quickly. Her love bombing me makes everything so hard since I still love her obviously, my feelings are still there because they can't disappear after 7 years.
Have you ever experienced something like that in your relationship or when you broke up? Why do people do this sometimes when they breakup? This is such a mystery for me.
