Why do you want to stay friends with a woman who’s a bitch to you?

to preface: I am the bitch. And I am only being a bitch to push my friend away. We’ve known one another for 7 years now.

I (36F) and a guy friend (36M), I’ll call him Terry. He started a new job months ago and since then, he’s been so busy, he ignores me for days on end. Prior to the job change, we talked DAILY, all hours of the day, etc. to note, we’re both in relationships. We both know we like one another but we also know that nothing can or will happen. Honestly, he’s more like a brother to me now that an interest.

We’ve spoken a few times about how he doesn’t apologize for his behavior or ignoring me. For example, my mom was in the hospital a few weeks ago. He didn’t respond to me for two weeks. When we did speak, “that’s just how it is now.” So, I stopped reaching out as much.

He came to me asking if I was okay, blah blah. I said I stopped trying, you ignore me, I’m tired, I just want to stop talking because nothing will change. “I don’t want to stop talking to you.” That’s all I get. “You make me a better person.”

I said fine, we can still talk. Things were better for a week and then it just devolved again. I finally decided to find out why the heck he still wants me around. I asked him several questions and requested he answer them before calling me again. He responded but barely answered.

I just don’t understand how I can be a huge bitch to him, give an ultimatum, for a man who I’m not involved with, but he just won’t stop trying to keep me in his life. It makes no sense, he makes no sense, and I feel like I am crazy.

So guys; why the heck would you keep a crazy chick you’re not involved with in your life when you’ve got so much else going on? What even is the point?

Because that´s what friends are for to be around when it´s working out and when it´s not. I think your problem is that a guy doesn´t the tactic to turn into a bitch to make him go. I think he doesn´t want to let go of the friendship so he tries keeping you around.
Guys don´t need to see their friends every day. For him being busy and not calling everyone isn´t big of deal since he thinks it´s his fault not yours.
I would say if you really want to end the friendship you´ll have to tell him because otherwise he won´t get it.

Not only will I remain friends with a woman who's a total bitch, ideally, I much prefer to be in a relationship with a woman who is a total bitch, and mean, arrogant and demanding. I'm being very frank, honest and candid when I say that the worse a woman treats me, the sweeter I'll be in return -- and there is literally no limit to how much of a bitch she can be to me.

Not saying anything about your story, but if I were to keep a friend who claims that they are crazy, bitchy etc. it is very likely I'd drop them in a heartbeat, no matter the circumstances.

So that’s kind of my point. I am annoying. I’ve tried to be a huge bitch to him to push him away, but he just keeps coming back. If people normally drop someone like that, why the heck won’t he move on with his life without me

To clarify, I’m a normally bitchy person. I’m a very nice person, I’m just not sure how to get him to move on. Kind of like making someone dislike you to be okay walking away, if that makes any sense to you.
