I would propose in a private place so they have less pressure if they don't want to go through with the marriage. I have seen people accept proposals to protect the person from embarrassment when they did not want to marry the person who proposed.

Nope. First of all, I would never purpose. Second if I wanted to do it, I would do it in private. There would less pressure and if the answer was "no", it wouldn't be a big embarrassing moment.

Yes, I really did not propose to my wife. We just sort of knew we were going to get married. t the time I thought that it was pretty cool how in synch we were with each other. Looking back I wish that I had made a bigger deal about ti.

Gods no. Proposals should be relatively private in my opinion, just in case something happens/people aren't on the same page. The public stuff can wait until the engagement party.

(I guess my exception would be if the couple had clearly discussed their stances on marriage and was basically just waiting for one person or the other to actually say it "officially".)

Proposing at a public event can be a bad idea, especially when the partner is socially awkward. And it would be seen as pressuring the partner to agree. Imagine being watched by many eyes, they would be embarrassed to reject you and the people around will pressure to say yes.

No. I don't care about the crowd of unknown people around but the thought makes me think of.. Like if I'm proposing like that, while he was considering ending it at the same time👾 it's going to be v awkward☠️
