Why would a divorced man distance himself from his new partner on the anniversary of his old wedding?

He’s done this with two relationships since his divorce now. What’s going on?

Maybe it this way of memorializing it or he has some trauma associated with it that is affecting his romantic desire for his new person.

That’s what I thought too, a way of memorialising it. But I don’t think he should be with someone else if he’s still doing that - how hurtful is that to them?

He's not fully over his ex or at least the anniversary of this day gives him flash backs. That could explain to me why he wants to be alone on this day to progress the feelings connected to this alone since he prefers to this alone.

He tells the new person he’s in a relationship with that he is over it. It’s been 3 years now and he’s been doing this each year. It sounds to me like he probably shouldn’t be in a serious relationship if he can’t fully be engaged with that person while this is holding him back. Would you agree?

Yes I think he needs to work on that issue if it is impacting his life that much.

After his first relationship ended post divorce he said he wouldn’t get involved with someone else again until he was ready as it wasn’t fair. Low and behold a few weeks later he’s with someone else again and repeating the same patterns.

Once bitten, twice shy. I know so many men whose lives were turned upside down when their wives divorced them. Why would they want to put themselves through that torture again?

So then don’t do the same thing to other innocent women after. Simple.
