If he's older than you then his time is shorter than yours maybe

And in this moment of time it sounds like he is deeply in love with you and he means well that you have to remember in his head he has done the math

I've done that with girls younger than me and I have that conversation of there's going to become a moment in time where I'm going to be holding you back and I don't ever want to do that so I would have to make some sort of deal with you to say I love you will always love you but you need to keep growing and that's what I would want so you have to calculate that time

And then you have to remember all it takes is a second for something to change time everything changes doesn't matter what time it is things change and you have to work together grow together to be together to be happy together so

When he says a long time he probably means until it's time for you to let him go and move on with your life

It's kind of a sad thing but in a roundabout way if it is true love and it lasts that long that's better than being with somebody your own age and getting a divorce and living through that

But each to their own I say good luck I say weigh it out and you have to make your choices too it's just not up to him. The be honest about it 100%

It means what he says, there is no second meaning behind it. Imagine you say that line, it means the exact same thing.
I just don't like the fact he said "long time" and not "forever", it sounds like he's going to leave at some point. I know that's not what he meant, but it comes off that way.
