I've never had a friends with benefits but I've read posts about them for many years. My impression is that many people are not hiiest with themselves about their motives for entering a friends with benefits; they actually want a real relationship but don't want to admit that, and calling it a friends with benefits "legitimizes" having sex sooner than they might if they were openly pursuing a real relationship.

Not me personally. But not many happy relationships start out that way. Many times one will fall for one and the other won’t. That ir someone gets kncoked up so they decide to get together.

I fell in love with the only one night stand I ever had. He was from out of town and was having dinner at the bar/restaurant I worked at. I ended up going back to his hotel for an amazing night! We spent the entire next day together, never left the room. He had a guitar and asked me what songs I like, he would play and I would sing, at times he would sing. Then, at around 8pm, I left. He had a flight at ten. I begged him to let me take him to the airport but he said his ride was on the way and he had to use it. Probably for the best, I’m sure I would have went to wherever he lived, Ha ha…. I never did ask!

I almost married my last friends with benefits for mutually economic benefits. I wasn’t in love with her though. However I deeply respected her.
