My boyfriend and I have been together for three years now. He lives about 12 minute drive to my house so we don’t live far from each other. I don’t drive, which means he’s the only one who drives us everywhere. Recently every time I would leave his house. I would ask him if he can drive me back home. He would respond with do you have a problem taking an Uber back home? I feel some type of way eveytime he would say this, since I don’t live that far and he kept saying he has no problem driving me home. My own friends out of gesture has never let me Uber and would always offer me a ride since they know ai don’t drive. I feel some type a way knowing that my boyfriend has an issue with it. We then end up fighting over this because for me I feel it’s just a little gesture and knowing he’s my boyfriend, I would appreciate if it didn’t bother him but it’s the other way around. I become the inconsiderate person as he says and kept saying I don’t consider how he is at all.
He would always pick me up from home whenever he wants to hangout and has no problem with it but driving me back home he feels I should take it into consideration that I should think about him and meet him halfway and take the initiative to just Uber. He then would tell me the girls in his past won’t have a problem with this and I’m acting a certain way.
I’m the type who’s caring and always puts him first. I try to make him lunch sometimes for work, buy him gifts that I know he needs for his place, always considering what he needs over me. And I’m the type who don’t ask him for anything since he has to provide for himself alone since he has no family support so for me I just help him the best I could.
What should I do? Am I a bad person for wanting a little gesture from my boyfriend or am I being inconsiderate of his feelings.
